Am I Being Too Cynical?

Pre-Obama I would have supported this idea 100%. I had confidence that most law enforcement would use these tools for the proper reasons. However, now I don't know.

The last paragraph in the article raises an interesting question.
"If you can't run with the big dawgs, stay on the porch!"

In general, military surplus to state and local agencies is a good thing.  I remain hopeful that this still true here, without several additional steps toward anything more nefarious.

We still enjoy the protections of Posse Comitatus, which limits the relationships between the feds and our local cops.  Unless some weakass RINO folks want to ignore that and let Obama walk all over things.  Hopefully we stop that crap at some point.

Here is the last paragraph...

“What are we headed to?” Garrett asked. “Whatever it is seems to be already in motion at a breakneck speed. The police are preparing for an enemy. My question is, ‘Who is the enemy?”

The problem is they (Goverment) remember "The Battle of Athen" more then we do, hence the mililary style equipment.

IMO...This never takes place if military style equipment was at hand at the time.

I've become more and more skeptical of giving local authorities bigger toys.
Sandyhook is a perfect example of the pressure the Fed has over them, it's pretty obvious they were forced to tow the line when they refused to release the simple fact that an AR was never used in the massacre, only pistols, and not just one, but four, putting down the theory that large magazines are to blame as well as Military style weaponry.

No, I do not want police being given these tools, Period! Nor do I want our Govt using them in our skies or on the ground, they should stay within the Military, though we as citizens should be able to use implements rendering them useless in the event they are aimed at us.
Which is why a Well Regulated Militia was included in the 2nd, the Founders knew what they were doing, the Militia should have the same armaments as the Military, within reason of course, like nuclear arms, something even our own Military would never use on our own soil because it would be of no use.

You can never be too cynical when it comes to distrusting the state.

Anyone who doesn't see this for what it is is simply not paying attention.

Between the 10K drones they are putting in the skies, the new NSA spy center in Utah, the millions and millions in ammo purchases by various government agencies, and now this...

There is a clear message to take from all of this.

Only the individual thinks. Only the individual reasons. Only the individual acts. Ludwig von Mises
