This sort of talk makes my blood run cold.
Selecting Lincoln in a BROKERED CONVENTION led to America's FIRST Civil War. Where 620,000 American Citizens died; many more maimed. In a country of just 31 million people.
Lincoln had no real interest in negotiating with Americans living in the South. He was a very poor Diplomat. Ruthless. It was his way, or die.
