Good.  Apparently there's now a 'short list' of 11 candidates.  I'm not familiar with most of them.  It would be nice to see Cronyn gone which means one less RINO in the Senate, but not so sure I want him directing the FBI.

The problem with Cronyn is the very slim majority for control of the senate. I don't see them picking a sitting senator at this time

Cronyn's  seat would remain republican in all likely hood. Of course I am guessing the special election would be held with the 2018 midterms for the remaining Cornyn's term. With all state offices up for election and Cruz up for reelection conservatives should be out to vote. If Cornyn does get picked, I wonder if whoever runs for his seat will run as someone who will back Trump or as someone who will fight Trump. Either way, I do not see Trump as having any coattails for anybody to ride on. Not here anyway.

Any thoughts?  I don't particularly like Giuliani or Christie, but I do think they would serve well as the FBI director.  Definitely not Gowdy ... he has proven to be inept at investigating.

The replacements: Who will be the next FBI director?

....."Here are some of the names that have been floated around to replace James Comey as FBI director.

Rudy Giuliani  ..........

Chris Christie .......

Mike Rogers  .......

Andrew McCabe   ......

John Pistole  .......

Trey Gowdy   .......

Ray Kelly  .......

https://www.conservativereview.com/articles/the-replacements-who-will-be-the-next-fbi-director

None of them

With all due respect there are some good names on that list but WE NEED A REAL COP in the FBI, not another round of lawyer's and politicians. THATS THE PROBLEM.

I know a few retired FBI agents, and even a few active duty agents, they all say the same thing: Comey transformed the FBI into a bunch of political Eunichs doing the bidding of the DemoRAT party. Internally the FBI is a divided camp where no one is allowed to do real investigative work Just look at the headlines. It is Trump and the Russians This, Trump campaign and the Russian something else.....blah blah blah.

IS ANY OF THIS EVEN A CRIME?  Hell no.

In the meantime when the FBI is running around chasing non existant Russian ghosts, criminal gangs like MS-13, Latin Kings, are committing violent crimes in every major US city. They have transformed Northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs into some sort of guerilla war zone. Then there are the Narco terrorist cartels, the drug trafficking networks that benefit from the open borders and LEGALIZED MARIJUANA Legalization policies of leftist states.

Then of course there are those fun loving Muzzies who have terror training camps in how many States? (Including several in Virginia) you can't surveill a mosque full of anti American Imams talking about killing infidels but you can damn sure devote all the energies of the letter agencies to make sure no one at Trump tower is talking to the Russian ambassador or some such nonsense.

Then we have our domestic terrorists like BLM who advocate killing police and are implicated in how many attacks on law enforcement officers INCLUDING the FBI.

We need a kick your ass COP to head the FBI and get them back into the business of cross border law enforcement against CRIMINAL GANGS, Organized crime and the tens of thousands of imported terrorists and criminals who are the REAL THREAT to our domestic security.

WE NEED SHERIFF DAVID CLARK or we need JOE APRAIO, either of whom would set the Dem party's heads on fire and get a Law Enforcement agency back into the business of Law enforcement.

Rant over.
Evil operates best when under a disguise

Problem is that one seat being open at all. Some of the appointments and legislation that will be coming up is to important to jeopardize the slime majority they hold now! With the Dim's slow walking in lockstep anything the republicans are pushing giving up any senate seat at this time would be a recipe for disaster. McCain would just love it making his vote that much more necessary we would be seeing his fingerprint all over everything coming out of the senate!

That's just it, Cornyn is much more rino than conservative. He has enough basics like against abortion, pro 2nd amendment, ect...  to keep getting elected but that is not making progress. We would have a chance of having TWO senators from Texas that were conservative. Just really do not see a democrat standing a chance any time soon.

I'd rather have a lib in his seat than that traitorous RINO. You know you're a lib when even Factcheck.org goes to bat for you.

Seriously, check out this article, where they actually try and build a case for him over his Conservative challenger back in 2010.

How ‘Liberal’ Is Sen. Cornyn?
By   Brooks JacksonPosted on December 11, 2013
Republican Rep. Steve Stockman of Texas says he’s running against Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s 2014 primary because the incumbent is a backstabbing “liberal” who only votes with Republicans “temporarily” when an election approaches. But Cornyn’s voting record shows otherwise.
Actually, Cornyn is rated among the most conservative of all senators, and for years he’s voted in line with fellow Republican senators more often than all but a few of his GOP colleagues.
In a “Dear Patriot” fundraising letter posted on Stockman’s campaign website Dec. 10, the congressman began: “You are in a foxhole fighting to save our constitutional Republic … … and the last thing you need is a Republican bayonet in your back.”
‘Liberal’ Cornyn?
The phrase “liberal John Cornyn” appears 20 times in the text of the letter and in the headline as well, as though constant repetition would make it true. For example, he says, “liberal John Cornyn is now doing what he always does, spending four years voting like a Democrat, then spending the two years before an election pretending to be Republican.” The sentence is underlined for emphasis, in the breathless style used by partisan fundraising appeals.
