The question in my mind when things like this happen is why? Why was this man so hated or was he simply a conservative that represented a pro-Trump stance?
The guy asked if they were republicans. If this were reversed and dems were shot by a guy asking if they were democrats the media and dems would already be blaming the hate caused by Trump. I blame this on the hate spewed by the media and democrats.

The shooter was shot by the lawmaker's security detail.
The Republican lawmaker was practicing for a charity ball game.
Senator Rand Paul says 50-60 shots.
Rep. Ron DeSantis said he was asked, "Are those Republicans or Democrats out there practicing?"
DeSantis said the man who asked him the question fit the description of the shooter.
That was right before the shooting.
Dems were quick to blame Sarah Palin.

I wouldn't put too much faith in a story originated by the Washington Post. They either made this up or likely Comey's little playmates "leaked" the story which is a non story. NYC occasionally has a Republican Mayor and NY State occasionally has a Republican governor.
