An even split in the election would give the Dems a clear majority in the Senate.

Well, this is a political discussion and debate forum. That's why we're here. I see no one discussing the aftermath with less than full respect for Scalia.

This is why we need Ted Cruz to appoint the next SC Justice. It will be the most important appointment in a generation. We cannot afford to get it wrong like with that dirtbag Justice Roberts that Bush appointed.

Exactly. I only wish my existence determined the fate of 320 million people. It's the ultimate in respect for his life, knowing the fate of the nation hangs on your existence.

My condolences to his family.

The nation lost a great justice today, and he left big shoes to fill. I'm hoping that the senate can stall any appointment that Obozo comes up with.

Have they announced a cause of death yet? The saddest thing about Justice Scalia's passing I think is this.

That so many Americans think he was such a great justice because he believed in upholding the Constitution as written, he believed in original intent, and oh yeah, didn't believe courts had any place legislating from the bench.

I'm sorry but those are something which SHOULD be a given.

The fact that not only did Justice Scalia have to fight for those principles on the bench. But the fact that some American's think holding that view made Scalia such a great justice, is only a further demonstration of how far astray our nation has gone from it's founding, Constitutional, principles.
