And in 10 years you want to bet the illegal flood has stopped? Good luck with that bet.

When are you going to discuss the bill your thread is based on?

HR399.  The OP leaves out about 90% of what the bill is designed to accomplish. People who are set on being fenced in won't like it.  People who understand there are other means of securing our borders will probably be a bit happier.  It authorizes one billion dollars over 10 years, specifically for border security.

That reminds of the people who have  plans to cut spending in 10 years. Never seems to happen. Reps have NO desire to secure the border because the money people want it open.

You know immigration really has a simple solution, remove welfare and hang criminals. Our ancestors were wise enough, now that we are taught to spit on our ancestors it's no Wonder we are in this deep shit. We as in Western Liberals and even many conservatives keep believing we are moving forward and society is a continual progress of enlightement, well no where else in history was a people so stupid enough as to committ collective suicide just to appease the people's that wanted them dead.

There will not be any meaningfull enforcemnt efforts when the donor class wants a flood of illegals.

Point taken, however, do you think pouring a couple billion into a worthless "fence" (a slip shod feel good measure) is a proper use of taxpayer dollars when the current admin allows illegals to just present themselves at border stations and request amnesty?

The border has never been sealed, ever. The problem arose when the Bracero program was started in WWII, both party's wanted more cheap labor, now the Dims want votes.
Eisenhower actually initiated "Operation Wetback" lol, if you can believe it, in these whiny PC times.  When I heard that, I loved the guy even more than just for being a 5-Star General, Commander of WW2.

Fences are worthless. WE need to take a lesson from the Israelis and build a damn wall.

It's probably true that under Obama it would be a waste of money.  Under a Cruz or Lee or Paul, it would be augmented with troops, technology, surveillance, and no-BS policy that would make it work well.

Ten thousand years ago, China did...

And along a border so vast, it's about double our southern AND northern borders, so vast that the wall is so long and so big, that it's one of the very few man made objects that can be seen from the moon with the naked eye.

But we, the most advanced, the most militarily powerful, the richest nation, to ever, in the entire history of humanity, exist. We the nation that discovered we could see that wall from the moon with the naked eye, because a man we sent to the moon stood there and saw it.

Cannot, from a technical standpoint just simply build walls to secure our borders! WTF?

Swear I hate it every time I hear that said!...and put forward as an excuse for not doing just that.

But did you see those zombie SOB's go right over this wall, in Z-Nation  ?

In all seriousness, modular concrete walls are hugely effective and cost-efficient as well.  It would go up lickety-split at a cost very uninteresting compared to the money we waste everywhere.  And it would be effective as hell with just the minimum manning / patrolling / surveillance.

The leftists and MSM have told the lie enough times that "it's not doable / affordable", that lots of people believe it now, despite it being 100% false.

They win with their Alinsky tactics yet again.

It would be great if some deep conservative pockets would try to piece together a wall on private properties.  I wonder if we could use Google Earth and property records to find just the right stretch of private properties, and get the Koches to buy the folks some wall.

Ten thousand years ago, China did...

Ten Thousand years ago China did exist. The inhabitants of that area were living in caves and ecked out a living as hunter-gathers - pretty much like the rest of humanity at the time.

The earliest construction of what would eventually be known as the Great Wall of China was built roughly 2700 years ago.

QuoteAnd along a border so vast, it's about double our southern AND northern borders, so vast that the wall is so long and so big, that it's one of the very few man made objects that can be seen from the moon with the naked eye.

And it took roughly 2100 years to complete. Only it was never completed per se. China just concquered the enemies on the other side of the wall thus making it superfluous.

As for seeing it from the Moon, that is hogwash.

Border agents blast  Boehners bill:

"I also remain concerned by the fact that needed USCIS reforms are not included in pending legislation.  For instance, H.R. 399 – Chairman McCaul's legislation – does nothing to preclude anyone in the world from turning themselves in at the US border and obtaining automatic entry and federal benefits.  Almost anyone at all can call themselves an asylum-seeker and get in; it's a global joke.  It's not border security if anyone can recite the magic words and get waved right on in.  Those who arrived in the 2014 border run are still here, often living on US support and even applying for US jobs.  The bill also delays by years the implementation of biometric exit-entry to police the rising overstay catastrophe.

Walls are only as good as the men who man them....I can;t help but recall History's lesson on weak willed corrupt BUREAUCRATS who allow the enemy to breach

History shows us that the great wall of China was breached by a mongol General who bribed the guy in charge and just rode his army right through the gate. Later he remarked that "Walls are only as good as the men who man them"

Right now our "walls" are manned by men who have orders from the WH not to stop the invading hoards and allow them to ride right through.
