Then I would suggest the proper claim would be more along the lines of "there is such a thing as REPUBLICAN Progressives. (As opposed to the term "Conservative".)

Modern conservatism is, in reality, CLASSICAL Liberalism - the philosophy of the founders of this nation. And, due to the strongly held beliefs of modern conservatism in the principles of minimal government, personal responsibility, and rights which are derived from higher authority than government, it is the antithesis of modern progressive political philosophy.

There was also, once upon a time, such a thing a Democratic conservatives. But the D party has pretty much eliminated such horrendous, liberty-serving traitors from their midst.

I only refer to it as progressive conservatives because that's how its been presented to me. More than once, in newsgroups on the net, I've had people tout how conservatuive they were, then when they start responding to me I find myself thinking, conservative what? Their responses were everything but conservative. Hence, conservative progressive.

Personally, I would call those who tout themselves as conservative, but consistently support the progressive view on the issues, a bunch of damned liars.

I don't think its a 50-50 claim as much as its a Trojan horse tactic.

Of course progressives are liars. If they told you the real goal of their politics (to lead the country into socialism) well that's known as treason

Dems Fear Another Trouncing

Quote
As Donald Trump's inauguration draws near, Democrats fear they remain woefully unprepared to fight the new president's agenda.

The party loses its standard-bearer once President Barack Obama leaves office, and the Democratic National Committee won't get a permanent chairman and staff until March, two months into the presidency. That Democratic power vacuum has raised concerns about the party's ability to provide a united message — or even to stand up a centralized rapid response operation — for the president's first 100 days in office.

Their worst nightmare is that Trump, ever the showman, will define his opening act with little unified resistance.

Poor, poor progs. They got so used to believing their own rhetoric they haven't a clue what to do when reality kicks them in the nards.

Leading that bunch should show everyone how irrelevant obama and the dem. party have become. trump has one golden opportunity in front of him and can blow the dems away in 2018 if he can keep his big boy pants on.

Let's hope Obama remains the leader of the party. His ideas were rejected and now he would continue to suck all the oxygen out of the room. Absolutely no opportunity to develop the bench.
