Barack Obama, A Free Enterprise Success Story
by Me, aka actionblock

We all know what Capitalism or the Free Enterprise System is and could write an essay defining it, right? Wrong! Few people could write a quality paper about it. Just too many moving parts like the "Patek Caliber 89" timepiece. Incidentally, do you know the timepiece with the most moving parts? ...Time's up and you didn't even guess or were likely wrong. It's an hour glass.

One of the rungs on my higher education ladder was something called "Marketing 101." I remember it well because when I got to the top of the ladder with no more rungs to climb I could only remember one thing any of my Professors had ever said. It was Monday, 8:01 am, and the first day of class my freshman year. The prof walked in, while not remembering the words precisely, he said something like "You guys and gals want to be a success in business? Find out what the consumer wants, provide that product or service at a reasonable profit and you'll be a success. That's it for today. See you Wednesday morning." And out the door he went.

Now, I'm not saying my whole education was a waste. It certainly prepared me for opportunities and challenges to come. Being like a sponge I soaked everything up and squeeze things out when needed.

Marketing is one of the little gears or grains of sand that make up the Free Enterprise timepiece. The Democratic elite were in tune with "Marketing 101" when they pulled Obama off the production line and pitched him to consumers.

The consumers wanted change and Obama appeared to be the product needed. The consumers wanted a fresh and new invention and Obama appeared to be the product needed. The consumers wanted a pull string figure that talked with style and Obama appeared to be the product needed. The consumers wanted a Genie that would grant three wishes at least and Obama appeared to be the product needed. The consumers wanted pixie dust that caused dreams to come true and Obama appeared to be the product needed.

In the Free Enterprise System there are almost always similar competing products for the consumer to choose from. The Republican elite went to their warehouse and pulled a dusty, almost obsolete and overly familiar item called John McCain off the shelf. Now, John was great in his day, but his day had come and gone, like hula hoops, pet rocks and beanie babies.

The media advertised the new Obama product over the old McCain product and the Free Enterprise System worked to perfection, as it usually does and the Obama product flew off the shelves.

Several years ago, while watching TV, a commercial came on for a battery operated hand held sewing machine. It was small, fit in the palm of your hand and did all sorts of great sewing machine things that its bigger bothers and sisters did. The machine showed off its many skills right there in the TV commercial. Only $19.95 with a 30 day money back guarantee.

I never had or wanted a sewing machine, a needle and thread worked just fine, any big sewing project could be taken to the local dry cleaner who also did alterations. But, for some reason, I wanted the little machine, just had to have it. I called the toll free number and placed my order.

About 4 weeks later the machine arrived. I opened its traveling box with a scissors and there it was. Much smaller than it looked on TV. It rattled and the sides were loose. No screws were in sight to tighten the machine up. The tiny spool of tread wouldn't fit on the thingamajig. The directions were useless. Must have gotten a defective machine, it's guaranteed, I'll sent it back. Let's see, I'll need to go buy some brown wrapping paper and twine, wrap the box up, go to the post office, wait in line about 30 minutes, pay $5.00 or $6.00 to ship it back. No way, it's not worth the effort to get my $19.95 back. I then realized why the sewing machine and lots of things on TV sell for $19.95. Who, but a skinflint or tightwad would make the effort to send something so cheap back? Not me. Into my Salvation Army box in the garage the sewing machine went. When the box was full I'd drop it off at the Salvation Army trailer and they would have some good things to sell and some not so good.

The thing I dislike about the Free Enterprise System is that little gear, that little grain of sand called Marketing. It gets you to buy all sorts of things that are defective, don't work as advertised or are just pieces of crap. Like a $19.95 sewing machine with a 30 day money back guarantee. Like Presidents with no guarantee.

"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God. "Certainly," said man. "Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God. And He went away.

Yes, Hussein was a product, he was marketed as the greatest rockstar to ever come along, with the promise of platinum sales that would make all investors in the Hussein product rich beyond their wildest dreams.
He is the poorest mans winning lottery ticket, join the Hussein movement and you too can own the dream of potential riches beyond your wildest dreams.

Yes, Hussein was billed as the second discovery of electricity, his new energy would heal the sick, unite the world, the party's would happily work together, because he is the promise, the chosen one, he is the epitome of Change, he is the dream you've all been waiting for.

Well, six years later, no #1 hit, no one is richer but those that marketed the product Hussein, and the only change to take place, is those youth that got all excited over his arrival, are now paying out of pocket for a failed product, one that will effect the rest of their lives.

Just like your little magic sewing machine and it's promises and the dreams of how it would simplify your life, turned out to be a cheap piece of crap.
However, a lesson is learned by each and every person that buys into the marketing hype, they only fall for it once in their life, and will not make the same mistake again.
And the company that marketed the failed product of Hussein? They will pay dearly for scamming the people that were gullible enough to believe that a man that never even took music lessons, could create a piece of music that would be loved by all.
In other words, they knew they were scamming the people, but thought if they could just get him in office, they would be able to force the people to accept their product, they'd be able to finally prove that what they were selling was better than capitalism.

Though their product comes with a price, a price that penalizes anyone that wants to be a success.

I've been saying this all along, it's why the Dim product and company is a failed experiment, it's why they have two options left, either double down on failure and keep pushing the dream, or move Right, Hard Right and hope to trick those that fell for the Hussein product to try the new improved product they are selling again.

This is one of the reasons TEA will sell so well, after swallowing the big lie of Hussein, people need a aperient and put back on a diet of reality, one that doesn't ask that they sign away a third of their income to the govt.

The analogy works on the marketing level, but it fails on another level. For the Obama product was not private. Buying it meant also buying into a system whereby the product would be forced onto others.

For a vote for Obama is not a private act, with private consequences, like the purchase of a sowing machine.

No, the vote entails costs for individuals in society writ large, and un-even costs at that, depending on the individual's place in society.

So unlike the private exchange, whereby the only parties to the contract are those freely consenting, the political purchase involves a whole nation of individuals who will be conscripted into this political contract, many of whom never consented to the purchase, and have no way out.

So this is no free enterprise selection process, for such a process requires respecting private property and individual liberty..

You're assuming those foolish enough to buy into the lie were smart enough to see past the lie, read the marketers fine print with invisible ink on the contract, they were not, and didn't know they were signing away their right of a money back guarantee, nor did they know they were signing away their right to their own money.
Remember, they were buying into a promise and a hollow dream, "You have to sign, it to see what's in it", which took place after they bought the product, a feat unheard of in a free mkt society, one where the manufacturer changes the warranty after you buy the product, literally rewords the contract you agreed to, all because they can, they write the rules.

That's true. They were duped into buying a poor product.

But the FORM of the contract was always clear. Your "purchase" in this contract involves the property of parties outside of the contract, which voids the contract, in terms of the rule of law vis a vis private property.

I can't sell your car to Taxed, for example, unless you consent to the contract too. So any contract drawn up between Taxed and myself, regarding your car, is not worth the paper it is printed on, in a free enterprise context.

Nor did these kids care because they didn't own anything in the first place, so pretending this was a real life Robin hood, to them was justified, after all, Rich people are evil, that's been a Dim mantra for years, even though their party is majority rich.

These kids were just too damn ignorant to see they were also voting away their future earning potential.

No, these kids won't be making the same mistake twice, the Dim message of hatred of greed, and envy of the rich failed.
Ya know what's funny? Reid is already doubling down on stupid, he is pushing more class envy of the haves and have nots.
They create a field full of have nots, and play the field to their favor, thing is, most used to have something more than they did before the Dims seized power, and these people won't forget that.

Agree on the first point but not sure on the second.

Politics has become a matter of selling brands. Once you get someone in your pocket, it takes a lot to dislodge them from your brand, and drive them to the evil opposition.

For example, A&M may have a bad game, or hell, a bad year. But an Aggie will support them through thick and thin with no thoughts of supporting Texas. Come hell or high water, the true believer knows "what" he is and represents it without any shame.

So partisan loyalty becomes a matter of identity...

"If the Democratic party is wrong- then *I* am wrong.." is the typical mindset of the true believers.

And sadly, partisan politics is all most wholly made up of true believers, glued to their respective infotainment news casts, and hyper partisans op eds.

But you're assuming there was loyalty with these kids from the start, and that's not the case, most kids are liberal at the start, but one mugging and they quickly grow up over night.
This is why so many of these kids are now looking at the Libertarian movement, they now want less govt, not bigger.

Some definitely do. I hope they are successful in convincing the others..

But I sense a sizable shift to the extreme left, as well, in the direction of OWS. "Seize the means" and all that.

The OWS group was a communist backed movement aligned with the leftists of the Dim party.
Those that joined in on the movement were angry at the cronyism in both party's.
In other words, those that participated, were more then likely Libertarian in values that hate wall st, and it's link to politics, something the Dim party has embraced in full.

Just look at QE-3 infinity, all backed by Hussein and his grip on the free mkt and need to destroy it, making it a Nationalized mkt run by govt.

Don't assume these kids aren't seeing the hypocrisy of the left. I have no doubt we'll see a surge in Libertarian interest in candidates come 2014.

I def see the libertarian value in being angry at the unholy alliance that is bank and crown, or what have you, where we part ways is probably in the best tactics forward. I would promote libertarianism outside of the political process, and advocate building horizontal relationships, communities and so on.

Do you really believe the public actually purchased this "product"? I think we're more likely dealing with identity theft and fraud.

A bunch of us here could write a quality paper on this subject if we took the time.  The free market and capitalism aren't complex subjects.  Also, Hussein usurping the Oval Office isn't a free enterprise success story.  In fact, it has absolutely nothing to do with the free market.
