So b o can play now and others can do his work.  Hmmm. why do we need him.  :))

WASHINGTON — It's the open secret that nobody in government wants to talk about: That cherished presidential signature that's tucked away in a scrapbook or framed for all to see might never have passed under the president's hand.

For decades, presidents of both parties have let an autopen do some of the heavy lifting when it comes to scrawling their signatures. The machine was recently put to use signing a bill into law, apparently a first.

Overseas and out of reach when lawmakers passed an extension of certain provisions of the Patriot Act, President Barack Obama employed the autopen to sign it, a step the White House has been mum about ever since.

"I always heard the autopen was the second most guarded thing in the White House after the president," says Jack Shock, who had permission to wield former President Bill Clinton's autopen as his director of presidential letters and messages.

Lazy bastards, all of them! :))
I can see it for some redundant things, but if it were used when the president pens a letter to the family of a fallen soldier, nothing is more disrespectful.
Seeing how more Soldiers have died under Hussein's watch, I bet he is using it.

That Auto-pen was a crock.

As far as I know it has never been used to sign a bill. It has only been used for form letters.

However, I agree empathically that letters to grieving family should be sighed without the use of Autopen.

His signing of the Patriot act could have been done in Europe, without any problem.
The last page - the signatory page could have been faxed - signed and faxed back. Legal.

OR
A single page could have been typed ,naming the Bill / Act, number, pages, and number of attachments then signed and faxed back.

My opinion the Auto-pen was intentionally used opening future prosecutions / trials to a legal challenge which would most likely negate  the signing; as not fulfilling the legal requirements by the President, potentially throwing all the prosecutions out the window.
