As Confederate monuments fall, Florida group calls for restoration

A statewide group is calling for the repair and restoration of a Confederate monument that was removed from the courthouse lawn in Bradenton.

Save Southern Heritage and other groups held a news conference Tuesday to demand that the Manatee County Commission put the 93-year-old monument back on its pedestal in downtown Bradenton.

The county commission removed the monument Aug. 24, following an Aug. 21 protest that drew several hundred people who demanded its removal....

.....Critics have called such monuments symbols of white supremacy and racism. Supporters of such monuments say they are reminders of Southern heritage.

Stonewall Jackson doesn't strike me as a racist at all, he started sunday school for slaves so they could learn to read and write which was against the law. And Robert E. Lee wanted to arm black people and then give them and even their family freedom even if they died during service and that they would be treated well after the war was over.

I have always thought that if slavery had not been abolished through War that the racist would have used coming eugenics theories to justify even worse racism and harsher slavery in the years to come in the south, but when actually studying the commanding greatest generals of the South that seems to be a false assumption, and I think people like Ron Paul was right after all when one actually reads history instead of projecting our assumptions as facts on the past. Even if this last point isn't true then the truth is that Robert E. Lee and Jackson were themselves as individuals not racist at all under any definition of racism modern or contemporary of their time. If one is to claim so then certainly Abraham Lincoln was probably a even worse racist than Jackson. Jackson grew up with black slaves and considered them his equals under God, though not equal in the social-political structure.

I guess we are dancing around the real issue. The leftists want the past to be erased, this is basic 485 year old Machiavellian strategy, to paraphrase from memory though I'm probably butchering it;

"A conquered people that are allowed to remember their past will be difficult to control, as any loyalty or love for their new rules will be less than their love for their liberty of the past. A people whose history is erased can't look back to past and owe all their current fear and love only to their new ruler, and are much easier controlled".

It is unfortunate that there is such an attempt to wipe out parts of American history that started awhile ago with the editing of our history text books in our schools.  No wonder American pride and pride in our country is diminishing.  That is one thing so far that I do like about President Trump; he seems to be restoring some of the pride that America has lost along her way.

As Stefan Molyenux said, Trump will not change the government back to the constitution, but he has hit the breaks and given you more time to save your country.
