The government appealed it's own win, because they didn't like the sentence handed down by a judge. They must really want these folks in jail.
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)

It's sad when your own govt wants revenge over justice. That's an emotion, something govt is supposed to be void of.

The thing that bugs me about this is the way it is being reported! Even FOXNews has characterized the ranchers who went to jail as "arsonists". That is just not true!

They started a legal fire on their own land ( to clear undergrowth - something the government should be doing, but doesn't) and it got out of control and spread to "government land".

If I had a dime for every time the Forest Service started a proscribed burn that got out of control, I'd have better things to do than sit around typing on political forums. And yet, I have never heard of an official of the Forest Service being so much as reprimanded, let alone charged with a crime and sent to jail!

Your not suggesting the federal government would have a double standard are you? (sarc)

It seems that we are about to witness yet another massacre. The militia barricades the building for the FBI attack is expected. In a potential shoot-out, the FBI would have more men and more ammunition. Maybe it is now the time for militia to stand down and make some other strategy, before it's too late.

Alex Jones tends to go way over the top, to the point of conspiracy.

Imo, the same can be said for FOX "news". Always have your critical analysis and thinking cap on when it comes to the "media".

Good point! Actually I trust FOX even less, because I know every story they release has an agenda behind it, Alex wears his on his sleeve, while FOX hides theirs.

On January 5, Stephen Colbert did a comedy bit on the situation.

He reported that the militia is occupying a remote wildlife office,
and that the federal government is making no response.

He then quoted a Facebook post where the militia is
appealing for provisions to be sent in.
(Apparently, they didn't bring much food.)

Colbert then recalled that, a month or so ago,
he had said something about Oreos on his show,
and Nabisco responded by sending him 100 cases of Oreos,
and an antique telephone "Oreo hotline."

So he set the "Oreo hotline" on his desk
and pretended to call Nabisco
and ask them to send another 100 cases of Oreos
to the address of the remote wildlife office in Oregon.

Boot-lickers like Colbert are the 'provisions' for groups like Occupy and college-crybabies.

That idiot probably hasn't eaten venison or jackrabbit in his life.

Somebody has to monitor the opposition.

The militia is over-the-top right and as ridiculous as the far left ideology. There's no "giving the land back" because it we all, as citizens, own it in the first place. Our governing and stewardship of the OUR land is accomplished by people, so it is not always handled in the best way, and people bump heads and act inappropriately...again, it's because we have people, not machines assigned to the task.

So, this group wants the land to be handed over to the citizens? Let's say they relinquish the land to the public (which has already been done). The activists will then get their needs achieved, right? Wrong. See how much bitching the ranchers would then make when a few hundred other families try to move their livestock of every kind, even begin plowing and planting crops, etc...maybe even a few mining claims to boot to toss into the mix. This is all about their own self-interest. They have no plans on sharing, believe me. The government may be acting as bullies, as they often do, but ranchers who think they are owed a monopoly on public land are somewhat bullies themselves.

I say make it equitable for all, and stop allowing leases, period. End of squabbles. One person shouldn't benefit financially by using property belonging to all of us for a mere pittance in use fees, while the remainder are treated as trespassers. Purchase your own land, then do what you wish with it.
One more liberal President in 2016 will mean the irreversible, eventual and total demise of our democracy. The rise and fall of democracy IS past the "apathy stage" at this moment. If this  momentum continues on its present path, restoration of democracy will require the least desired of actions.
