Of course, officer safety is primary. However, think about the elixir of liberals - tax money. Think about the negative revenue impact this has on De Blasio.
Negative revenue on everything. This has to affect business, tourism,retails...... Has anyone heard if any other cities are following suit?

Billy's bayonet, it has started.

NYPD arrests reportedly plummet following assassination of two officers.

snip~
Traffic citations are down 94 percent, parking violations are off 92 percent and drug arrests have plummeted 84 percent, according to the paper. Arrests overall are down 66 percent.

snip~
An unnamed officer told the Post: "I'm not writing any summonses. Do you think I'm going to stand there so someone can shoot me or hit me in the head with an ax? I'm concerned about my safety.

"I want to go to home to my wife and kids."

Heres what I'm getting from active duty and retired LEO brethern, including a good friend who was NYPD for 26 yrs: Rather than stage a 7 day "sick out" they are doing a "work to rule" or slowdown, most importantly they are DEPRIVING THE CITY OF REVENUE from citations and parking control, that is MUCH BETTER than a sick out/walk out, one of thereasons these guys dont want to walk is that THEY HAVE THE SUPPORT OF THE citizENRY, not only in NYC but across the nation and a "walk" would be bad for that....plus

You got a lot of dedicated guys who don;t want to leave the city to the rats, they know what would happen.

In other words, dont punish the citizens who are supporting them.

Go after the management and hit them in the pocket book.....

Good post. The police do not need to do anything that hurts the citizenry. There has to be tremendous pressure on De Blasio. One just wonders how long before the libs turn on him.

You folks praising the NYPD, don't seem to realize that what we have is a public worker union deciding that they should make public policy. If they don't like the current mayor, who's their boss  - then quit. Don't hold on to your fat job and pretend to work.

If this was something trite like, pay, or retirement benefits, or lunch hours, etc, etc, etc. I'd tend to agree with you. But this is far more important.

The mayor's rhetoric and actions are directly responsible for getting cops shot dead! It is a failure of leadership (at the very least!) I believe that since it is the cops who are putting their asses on the line every day they have a right, if not a duty, to take actions to see that that deficiency is addressed!

What they are doing is completely legal.

Yet, DEE BLATO will no doubt still insist on HIS police force cracking down on "lifestyle crimes" meaning the selling of single untaxed cigarettes and such, whish by the way is what they were doing when the BG ("Bad Guy") resisted arrest!  First, this Mayor pushes the police to enforce HIS WILL and focus their attention on this sort of thing rather than "stop & frisk" which actually reduced real crime (in poor neighborhoods); then he slanders the entire police force for doing his bidding!
