Yeah, it's called hi-jacking a thread.  This belongs in the financial section, not the political section.
Thanks Walks.

If Boomers ARE the political problem - several things/mistakes come to mind.

a.  Believing the media didn't have an agenda & would be non-partisan with news.
b.  Adopting the notion we would collectively "change the world", rather than ourselves.
c.  Allowing moral decay to permeate practically every corner of society, from TV to church.
d.  Allowing the Democrats to expand government dependency.
e.  Embracing the 8hr work day as a regular, noble "job" while stifling, not embracing entrepreneurship.

Everything mentioned, was introduced by the "Greatest Generation"...

How different life might have been, if Constitutional Conservationism was embraced & taught.
One positive, it is the Boomers who are (finally) trying to educate and reverse American decline, a little late, but at least our kids can see the importance of Liberty.

All spot on, though only scratching the surface, but if I were to point out the two most important aspects of how the left seized the moment, it would be A and D.
The left used A to disguise D, and are still using A to date as a weapon.
The left not only touted socialis issues as a grand move forward, but chastised anyone as heartless who disagreed with them along the way, for without a lapdog media, they'd never have gotten traction.

I see all that changing and here's why.

Interesting graph.   And newspaper reporters were once a noble profession - now they're about as trustworthy as a used car salesman.

The problem is lack of critical thinking. The problem is not asking questions.

Don't give a used car salesman a bad name.  Car salesman are paid to sell cars.  Newspaper reporters should be paid for tell the truth and the hole truth.

OK, I guess they'd sell more papers if they told the truth, but sensationalism is so much easier!

The last half is both true and profitable. In my experience, newspapers don't sell more papers with good news over the bad. For example: those papers which still do print court and police news on a specific day find those days are when they sell the most papers, just as the old term "if it bleeds it leads" applies to what goes "above the fold," where it's visible within a newspaper rack. If it's something awful, it sells. If it stinks on dry ice, it gets reported.

  At what time in American history have newspaper reporters EVER been called noble? Shameless, ruthless, fanciful (or hallucinatory) ... but noble? Wow! You may apply the term to the Ernie Pyle types who get themselves killed in war coverage, or strip the term altogether from the Brian Williams and other brand-name media liars...but noble (as applied to journalism in the U.S.) is and probably always has been a case of massive oversell.

Mencken was correct. He just didn't apply that caustic wit toward the newsrooms.
