Really?

How about those flash mobs...

How many links would you like regarding the media calling Conservatives racist when they simply disagree with Obama's policies?
How many examples of the Tea party being called racist that turned out to be false do you need?

If you did not intend on voting for Obama you are a racist. If you disagree with his policies you are racist. If you won't vote for him again you are racist.

It's frustration thanks to decades of liberal policies. And that frustration is bubbling over where once again the black community is left behind. Who's fault is it? Once again ours...

Oh look Dr. Watt, another race baiter... :o   It appears I am not the only one who has his eyes wide open.  Tell you what, keep your eyes on my posts and let's see what happens because apparently you did not learn one damn thing from the 60's because the radicals own the White House.

Seawolf

So pointing out that our leaders are stiring the racist pot is race baiting for the good ole doctor.  I guess this next link will put me further into that category.  You got a lot to learn.  Maybe you can answer me this question Dr., why did the DOJ dismiss all charges against the Black Panthers for voter intimidation?  Why does this organization rise to such a level of interest to this administration?  I am hoping you can answer this question.  In th etwo films I am showing you the man who is doing the teaching to the children, yes I said children and the speech he gave is the same man who was standing in front of the election poll in Philly and was prosecuted by the Feds for voter intimidation.  I HOPE you are old enough to remember the Black Panthers.

That is an uprising, not a civil war. A civil war requires two sides. I don't think that black and white is a viable candidate for that anymore. Even rich and poor doesn't seem particularly viable.

The flash mob thing is just societal pressure resulting in aimless violence. It doesn't have any political or economic goal.

We will never see what happened in the middle east happen here. At least not in the foreseeable future. People here, despite some economic woes, still have too much to lose, too many distractions.

White and Black had little, actually, to do with the first Civil War. ( a misnomer, as nothing is civil about war )

The so caled educated members of congress that are calling the Tea Party members racist are doing nothing more than fanning the flames.  They want race riots.  I know that it will not be the Tea Party that starts them.  It is so sad, because the Tea Party people that I choose to be around are the farthest thing from being racist.  It bothers me that race is even an issue, there are far more important things to deal with.
I think lumping Maxine Waters in with the word educated is a stretch. ;)

Ah, I see!

You were not claiming to be all of the above!

You really should have set that part of the article off in quotes or italics or something. I thought you were claiming to be all of that - assistant dean, former intel officer, etc...

I still think that you are just being a race baiter though, by posting this nonsense!

-Dr Watt

The problem with your thinking, Dr Watt, is you can not conceive, necessarily, what spark may set off such a conflagration. It could be seemingly small and inconsequential thing. It most probably not even be over race, so much, as when the dollar tanks beyond all redemption, creating the enmity between the haves and the halve nots.

White and black had much to do with slavery, and that was a main driving factor leading to the Civil War.

It was a cause, but not THE cause.

Without it there would have been no war... so yeah, it was the main cause. All other causes can be traced back to slavery--state's rights, economic differences, and culture. All lead back to slavery.

State's rights are NOT traced back to slavery. They are enumerated in our Constitution through the 10th Amendment.

The difference of state's rights prior to to the civil war can be traced to slavery and the admission standards for new slave/free states. The slave/free state balance of power in the federal congress was a major source of friction.

Tennenbaum,

You are sawing off the limb on which you are sitting.  You have the knack of beginning in the middle of an utterly false narrative.

Don't bother trying to ruffle my feathers with your folksy southern talk. Where would you like to begin the narrative?

I am not trying to ruffle your feathers; I am trying to be frank and earnest with you.  There are many places to begin the true narrative.  Beginning with things in the thirteen colonies, each of them with unique traditions, customs, habits and polities, would be a place at which we might start.  We could have started at the fall of Constantinople in 1453, which is where I begin my American history classes.  That is, however, a bit too far back for set of forum discussions.

I would actually enjoy the latter. Let's do that. In what way does the fall of Constantinople figure into the American Civil War?
