I think your friend was lying to you.  I think if the son of an ambassador murdered someone, the USA would try to obtain a waiver of immunity then prosecute.  It's been done before.  Seeing as how Japan is one of our allies, I think that even if they didn't waive immunity the person would be held accountable back home in Japan.

Top diplomatic officers have full immunity, as do their deputies and families. That means ambassadors can commit just about any crime—from jaywalking to murder—and still be immune from prosecution.

Not quite.  You asked about a party I support.  I do support various parties by voting for their candidates and speaking in committee about their bills.  If I vote GOP at times; then they are getting my support.  But no party is good enough for me to call them my own.
