No.  I'm asking what happened?

Murkowski won - incumbency benefit. Squeaked out a very narrow margin.

But I thought Miller won.  How did Murkowski win?

Apparently Murkowski had more appeal to the general electorate.

Thank you for clarifying that you have no idea about that election or what happened.

Go run along and play with your polling numbers.

To Solar's previous point about the state being liberal. One only has to look at all the pork that comes to AK from Washington. Ted Stevens was a master at bringing it home. Also, the citizens are addicted to the annual allotment they receive from the state from the oil and gas harvesting. Those "goodies" have a tendency to turn folks into liberals.

Ah, I forgot all about this thread.
But you nailed my point, it's all about the freebies, as well as the Fed being the largest employer in the state, and people tend to vote for their own best interests.

This is why I canned the idea of moving to Alaska, ask anyone that lives there, they'll tell you it's run like a prison camp with govt looking over your shoulder constantly.

I'm willing to bet that the government owns most of the land in the state.

Yep, which is part of the problem, many of the residents say they see more rangers than they do of their neighbors in the rural areas.
Talk about a police state...

Actually 69.1% which is better then living in Nevada.

If you break Nevada down, all the libs are Mexicans in Las Vegas, and most are of illegal status.
In other words, ignore the stats because many have left the state and returned to Mexico because there's no work for them since the building boom crashed.

These are the same people that got Reid elected, can't even speak the language.

This is what happened...

Murkowski (O): 101,091 (39.5%)
Miller (R): 90,839 (35.5%)
McAdams (D): 60,045 (23.5%)

In the republican primary, Murkowski lost, but to the general public she was still popular enough to run as a write-in candidate and win.

Murkowski is the queen of pork and all the fed money addicts in AK wrote her name in.
