QuoteI've been hearing the rumblings about tough times for furloughed workers. We're nine days in (the first missed paycheck was January 11) and government workers are being forced to eat their pets. I was thinking about this conundrum, and how these people can start receiving paychecks again. I have a solution I'd like to suggest:

Excellent point Taxed.

Why are Govt and union workers ""Spetchial"?
In the private sector, if you aren't getting paid, you don't wait around, you get off your ass and find another job.
That is, unless you are being overpaid for the work you produce, benefits most only dream of, Holidays, sick leave retirement, and the list goes on. In other words? These positions that sit idle because the govt is in "PARTIAL" shutdown have been exposed as unnecessary slots that could easily be filled via the private sector, or in some cases, individual States.
Point is, the left uses them as pawns in the battle, so let's eliminate part of their arsenal by eliminating useless positions.

It goes back to the narrative part, that Doyle talked about.  We don't let them set the narrative, which is always a lie.  The reality is they can pull up their big-boy pants and go find a job.

What, and actually work for a living?
I remember when a civil servant job didn't pay much, but the benefits for retirement was what attracted people that (and let's be honest here) fit in well in the private sector.
I remember many of these people back in the 60s, many were alcoholics, depressed, usually divorced and hated life, but they had a job that was hard to get fired from,, mostly because no one wanted to work for such low pay.
The left completely flipped that on its head, where private industry can barely compete.

Growing govt is what the left loves because they despise free mkts and entrepreneurs. "You Didn't Build That"!

I'm really hoping we get a nice chunk of fat removed from the Federal government.

As I have posted before we have a relative who is with Homeland Security and not being paid. We were told there is a mechanism where folks who have some equity in their career can borrow from that fund until they get paid. It would be paid back from future paychecks. I am not aware of the full details of this possibility.

Aren't they fired if the shutdown goes past 30 days?

I'd love that, but this is just a partial shutdown, and none has ever made the 30 day mark to test it.

furloughed workers? doesn't this amount to a layoff? Are they eligible for unemployment if this goes any real length of time?
