Trump Advisor Jared Kushner Unveils Economic Portion of Middle East Peace Plan

The White House on Saturday outlined a $50 billion Middle East economic plan that would create a global investment fund to lift the Palestinian and neighboring Arab state economies, and fund a $5 billion transportation corridor to connect the West Bank and Gaza.

The "peace to prosperity" plan, set to be presented by White House senior adviser Jared Kushner at an international conference in Bahrain next week, includes 179 infrastructure and business projects, according to details of the plan and interviews with U.S. officials.

It is being proposed as an approach toward reviving the troubled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, although the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the armed Islamist group Hamas continued their criticism of the plan on Saturday. Israel and some Palestinian business leaders have shown a lot of interest in the effort, a senior Trump administration official has said.

There has not been peace in the ME in recorded history. For hundreds of years it did not matter to us because we did not need their oil and the idiocy of the ME could not be transported to us. Now, all of that is changed. Our job now is to destroy or control their idiocy.The Palestinians do not want a peace with Israel. It would remove their victim label and their inability to run a government would be exposed.

Yes, they have a backward mentality that will never fit with the modern era, they teach their children hate. How is it even possible to find peace with these people unless you take over their schools?
I don't like it one bit, but Trump does continue to surprise daily, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. (grudgingly)

On paper it sounds great but the Palestinian government is hopelessly corrupt. Most of the money will end up funding terrorists. Let Putin have the middle east,Cuba and Venezuela. He'll be running the most expensive daycare center in the universe.

Trump Imposes New 'Hard-Hitting' Sanctions on Iran, Including Supreme Leader

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he signed an executive order imposing "hard-hitting" sanctions on Iran that will deny Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his office "and many others" access to financial instruments.

Trump said the new sanctions were in part a response to last week's downing of a U.S. drone, but would have happened anyway. He said the supreme leader was ultimately responsible for what Trump called "the hostile conduct of the regime."

"Sanctions imposed through the executive order ... will deny the Supreme Leader and the Supreme Leader's office, and those closely affiliated with him and the office, access to key financial resources and support," Trump said.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the sanctions would "lock up literally billions of dollars of assets."

Trump had told reporters Saturday that the punitive measures were coming.

"Some of them are already in place," Trump said on the South Lawn before departing to Camp David on Saturday.

"We're putting additional sanctions on, they're going on slowly and, in some cases, pretty rapidly, but additional sanctions are being put on Iran."

"I'm not looking for war and if there is, it'll be obliteration like you've never seen before. But I'm not looking to do that," Trump told the network. "Look, you can't have nuclear weapons. And if you want to talk about it, good. Otherwise, you can live in a shattered economy for a long time to come."

He added that the proposed talks between the two countries were "not about the oil."

Currently, more than 80 percent of the Iranian economy is under sanctions and the upcoming penalties "will be a further effort to ensure that their capacity not only to grow their economy, but to evade sanctions, becomes more and more difficult," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters on June 23.

Tehran is already feeling the effects of existing U.S. sanctions, according to national security adviser John Bolton, who warned the Islamic regime on June 23 not to mistake "U.S. prudence and discretion for weakness."

If anything like peace can be achieved, it will only be achieved by getting the Muslim Majority to back it.  Most of the Middle East are Sunnis.  Iran is Shia.  This kind of explains Trump's initiative to meet with 'Arab' Leaders in Saudi Arabia.  Most Iranians are not Arab; They're Persian.  Obama backed the minority Muslim community (Iran) and Trump sees far better odds in backing all the rest which are Sunni.
