Cruz noted after Guzman was convicted that prosecutors were seeking $14 billion of the drug lord's assets, more than double the $5.7 billion President Donald Trump has said a border wall would cost.

"By leveraging any criminally forfeited assets of El Chapo and other murderous drug lords, we can offset the cost of securing our border and make meaningful progress toward delivering on the promises made to the American people," Cruz said in a January statement.

That would be epic. Drug money funding a wall that will stop drug smuggling. They would paint IRONY in big bright letters on it.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but there is a good chance of this actually passing since the Senate pulls the purse strings and Conservatives are on a roll with Trump and his agenda.
We could actually spin this as a Trump dividend that belongs to the wall, no where else.

This would just need "permission" not a law passed? If so, I can not see how it could end up in a liberal court.

One thing I have noticed is, Trump only projects when necessary, otherwise he just does it first, before the left can mount a defense.
In this case, I think Trump and Cruz are building the case to use the money, get the public on his side, then place the Dims in defense of drug smugglers and traffickers.
Either way, he will win on this issue.
