Good game though there are several things that makes it a disappointment.

The first thing is Kit Saginaw's point about the gear. Getting the minigun at the start takes away a lot of the "grind" to become a powerful fighting behemoth. Yeah the ammunition is scarce but the economy is so exploitable with theft you have basically unlimited funds to purchase unlimited ammo. I like the new fusion cores for the power armor though, but getting the power armor fight at the beginning removed a lot of the suspense for me, but that is just a minor issue or possibly nostalgia. I still remember drooling over a power armor in Fallout 1 that seemed unobtainable at that time.

The second thing about the gear is all the legendary trash you find, that you can't strip for parts. I would have been fine with getting my inventory full of legendary items 20min after leaving my home base if I could strip them for parts, but legendary items are worse than trash a few hours into the game, and for a gear hunter this was extremely sad. I love collecting lots of gear but this "unique" items is just out of place. Why would a raider have a cryo modified pipe pistol?

The game is also waaay too easy once you get medium tier weapons, and legendary only makes fight longer because the legendary enemies heal themselves full HP once they are down 20% hp or something. But because you get power armor and unlimited money to buy best weps so early I was super sledge smacking my way through super mutants without any problem after a few hours.

The drugs, it is fun to use the drugs but because they have no bad side effect you can basically get Godmode 100% of the fights if you want.

Also another point that goes back to what Solar wrote if I understand him correctly, it doesn't matter what you do. People forgive you for everything, they just go unconscious for a moment after a fight. Which also ruins the immersion, being in a fire fight having my trade caravans walk past me right in the middle of super mutant territory in godmode because they can't die just ruined all immersion for me. Also the fact that you can bring in super mutants and synths on the BoS airship or Base ruins the immersion.

Ok rant off, yes its a good game, but it really only makes me want to play Fallout 2 (would play fallout 3 again but have done everything too many times in it). Will say one more thing though, I liked that BoS has returned to it's root with being intolerant assholes, but it is also strange that they don't even check if their members is synths. Especially since they have a lot of medical check ups and combat medical treatment.....

Concur, and that only scratches the surface.
Finished it last week, and will pick it up again next month and try for a new ending.
The one nice thing about the game is how it slowly reveals new shit, even when I was near the end of the game, new crap emerged, even after completion, I wandered in TCL mode only to discover things with no connection to any quest.
Would have been cool to discover them early in the game.
One other point I found frustrating was the lack of clues for any given quest, or reason for doing it in the first place. EG, memory den, I sat in that damn chair for 10 minutes before I realized you were supposed to walk into the abyss, then like a snail following a garden hose only to connect to another long ass hose, never once being instructed as to what you were doing.
I despise AI cutaways or movement speed restrictions.

All in all, it's a pretty entertaining game. I found the romance aspect to be an interesting avenue, one no other game had ventured to pursue, and they did a good job, but that was only good for a short time, and now Cait is just another tag along pest that constantly gets in the way, gives me away to the enemy, whines like a lib and is essentially worthless.

One thing they kick ass on is openworld format, wish all games did that.
