Sinclair Broadcasting to buy Tribune Media
« on: May 14, 2017, 10:53:01 AM »
This is great news!
Sinclair Broadcasting is buying Tribune Media!
If the sale is approved (major mergers need government approval)
72% of the nation's viewers will be able to see on TV
Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson!

Also, Sinclair will have control over the production of local TV news,
which viewers consider to be the most credible source of news on TV.
It will be harder for the Establishment media to bury news stories.

This expanded Sinclair can also step up and replace Fox News,
which is drifting leftward as Rupert Murdoch ages,
and his two sons, who are much more leftist, gain more control.

I heard the news on On The Media,
a PBS radio program from WNYC,
so they reported the story in alarmed tones,
instead of celebrating the fact that
72% would now have the opportunity
to see a dissenting opinion on TV.

I heard this announced mid week on FOX 40 Sacramento. Does this mean the local FOX stations will now be called Sinclair, or some related acronym?

They can name the local station whatever they desire. Keep in mind these outfits are all about ratings so if the Fox affiliate is leader in the local market they probably will not change.

We have a Sinclair station my market, the local Asheville station which is an ABC affiliate. They have to walk a fine line between ultra liberal Asheville and conservative WNC and SC Upstate. They do carry national ABC stories which are obviously leftist.

Yeah, FOX is tied for first place in the Sacto. market with KCRA TV owned by McClatchy broadcasting.
It will be interesting to see what Sinclair does with this Mkt, because what used to be a solidly Conservative TV platform across the board, has melted into leftist pondscum.

This deal relates to who owns the TV stations,
not which networks air on those stations.
Here is a list of the stations Sinclair currently owns,
and the networks that air on those stations:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stations_owned_or_operated_by_Sinclair_Broadcast_Group#Current_television_stations

Here is a list of stations that Tribune currently owns,
and the networks that air on those stations:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribune_Broadcasting#Television_stations

The main change that will affect the current Tribune stations is
they will air programs produced by Sinclair,
such as Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson.

Sinclair will probably do some supervising of
their new stations' local news production.
For example, at least once a week,
my local Sinclair stations' newscasts
include material produced by Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson.

I love that woman, and nice to look at as well! Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson will be a welcome and refreshing break from the old leftist take on news they've been forcing down our throats.
