Now, a great many people, including me, are predicting Robotic Sex Companions will be widespread in the near future. But we are clearly not there yet !

On a side note, I have first hand experience with the elderly in Nursing Homes. Many are desperately lonely - and lacking anything else, become very attached to stuffed animals. Institutions deny them REAL PETS, which is tragic but understandable.

I pray we can manufacture Artificial Intelligence Cats and Dogs, realistic enough that these sad people can interact with. Most religions preach animals have no souls anyways, so what would be the harm ?
