Title: Senate Republicans Ask for CBO Score for Cruz's Proposal
Post by: redbeard on July 02, 2017, 06:39:37 PM
QuoteSen. Ted Cruz's proposal to allow insurance companies to sell non-Obamacare compliant plans as long as they also sell at least one Obamacare-compliant plan is being given a hard look by Senate Republicans, Axios reported Saturday.http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/senate-republicans-cbo-cruz-healthcare-bill/2017/07/01/id/799347/

Has Cruz given up on Repeal of Obama care? Now he wants to modify it?

Actually, this is pure brilliance!

Think about it, right now Commiecare is at a minimum 4 times the cost of regular insurance, so who in their right mind would pay for a product the law says they no longer have to buy.
Chalk up another for Ted!

like the death of a thousand cuts but that takes time. I would rather see a flat out repeal with say a 12 to 18 month phase in to return things to what they were prior to commiecare!

The CBO is less accurate than a blind darts player.

I think you're missing the point altogether.
No one is required to sign up for Commiecare, and since it's 4 times the cost of a conventional HC policy, Commiecare would fold overnight.
No one with an IQ over 20 would sign up for that mess. Without a mandate, Commiecare dies a violent and quick death under Cruz' plan.

Exactly. Cruz is offering an empty box. However, it is brilliant. It is not taking anything away. See how simple this is. So simple congress will not touch it.

Exactly! No need to do a thing, Commiecare collapses on its own once people have a choice and aren't forced to buy an inferior product.

No what he is trying to do modify the GOP bill so it phases out Obamacare. It's a less politically toxic way to repeal it. Instead of outright repealing it which gives the democrats fuel to scare the voters it will offer better choices that are market based which will quickly make Obamacare obsolete.

For example there is a better chance of getting a healthy thirty year old to buy a cheap catastrophic policy than an expensive policy that includes services he or she will never use.

Thank's Bert, I can buy that but I would still rather see straight up repeal

Then you're still missing the beauty of this Bill.
Commiecare would literally die overnight with this Bill in place, no need for repeal because its very own costs kill it off.
If Trump signs a repeal bill, the left would carry that into next mid-term elections and campaign on it, but let Commiercare die under its own devices, and the libs would be forced with the undeniable truth that the socialist program could have never stood on its own.

Let the left deal with the truth of their own failures. Remember, when your opponent is making a fool of their self, don't interfere.

How would you like history to record Commiecare's demise? Trump killed it, or it died because it needed a lot of taxpayer subsidies?

This reminds me of that old philosophical question. If a tree falls in a forest and no one was there to hear it, did the bear actually shit?

Oh, I forgot, the President tweeted that he wanted a straight up repeal now, so now you're on board that train instead of being against conservatives.

I appreciate his 'faith' in Trump, and his wanting to believe Trump has the best interests of the nation in mind, but Trump's constant clarifying of his plan, or rather backpedaling, on every promise he made during his campaign exposes a blind follower.

He goes from solidifying the ACA scam with Ryan and McCain to a complete repeal.  Yet, Redbeard thinks he's been completely consistent on his position.  What's really funny is Trump was pretty open and adamant about a government run health care plan, but now Redbeard thinks Trump has been pro-repeal the entire time and attempted to imply Cruz was behaving like a globalist.

Trumpers can be so loveable, like a big dumb dog who eventually catches its tail.

It's kind of brilliant because it will directly put government mandated insurance against the free market.
