Here's the kind of crap that happens in election years when nobody reads the bills they pass, allowing crazy ideologues like Obama the chance to further dictate what to say.

QuotePresident Barack Obama signed a bill into law Friday banning the federal government from using the terms "Negro" and "Oriental," making the official terms African-American and Asian-American.

The measure, H.R.4238, was an amendment to the Local Public Works Capital Development and Investment Act of 1976 to modernize terms relating to minorities. The legislation passed unanimously in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate earlier this year.

The law also updates the terms the U.S. federal government uses to describe minorities. American Indians will now be referred to as Native Americans, while, according to the law's language, a "Spanish speaking individual of Spanish descent" will be referred to as Hispanic.

 Since when are all Mexicans, all Central Americans or all South Americans descended from the Spanish?

Who cares? I'll call them what I have always called them.

What's wrong with 'oriental' ?

tac

There is nothing wrong with  oriental or negro. There is something wrong with Obozo though.

Cryptic Bert

So I assume referring to all Asians as "Chinamen" is verboten.

To hear the leftists, everything. (*best Rod Serling voice*) Behold.

It's only been a few days since Hussein's diktat but thus far the NAACP hasn't issued any statement. The Salon piece does however point this out:

QuoteIt can be challenging for institutions and older people, who have seen racial terms come and go during their lifetimes, to adapt. The NAACP, founded in 1909, declined to change its name during the DuBois revolution but did stop using colored in all other contexts. Negro History Week, begun in 1926, changed to Black History Month in 1976. The United Negro College Fund is now trying to emphasize its initials rather than its full name. The last time the Supreme Court used the word Negro outside quotation marks or citations to other scholarship was in 1985. The writer was Justice Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court justice, who came of age during the time of DuBois. Despite public outcry, the U.S. Census still includes the word Negro, because many older people still use it.

Is 'nigra' still okay?  I haven't heard anybody talk about it.  Certain sections of the Country had their own accents, making words come-out different.

Connecticut used to make-fun of people in the northeast part of the former Commonwealth, by calling them 'yankees'...  because most of them were Nederlands guys named 'John'.  -Jan, (silent 'j'), or Janke in-Dutch.  Back in Flanders, the Flems made fun of the Dutch, because most of them were guys named 'Jan' with the popular family names of Kaas, Klaas, Kees, and Klees...  which became the slang: John Cheese over there.

I guess we can't say that either anymore.  It all gets so confusing.

So the Oriental Negro doesn't want to be called an Oriental Negro.
Sorry, but that's what he is.
He's a black guy who grew up in Indonesia.
He's an Oriental Negro.

Leftists are always putting false labels on things
so that the turd sandwiches they force on everyone
are not allowed to be called turd sandwiches.

Leftists also keep changing the names of things
just to make people toe a new line every few years.
They don't let people choose even the language they wish to speak.
They make everyone speak political correctness
just to demonstrate that they have the power
to make you speak their language, not yours.

They just passed a law that requires federal agencies
to use these specific terms, not the historical ones.
Next, they'll require that the use of these terms
be made mandatory and universal in all public schools,
or they'll lose their federal funding.

When a generation of yutes has been trained to use only these terms,
anyone who does not comply, but uses any other term
will be excluded from society.
They'll be branded "unemployable" for using "hate speech."

Then, new terms will be introduced,
and the process will start all over again.
