QuoteThe director for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention says that the Ebola outbreak is going to get worse.

Speaking to "CBS This Morning" following his trip to the West African countries dealing with the outbreak, Dr. Tom Frieden explained that they have to act now to try to get Ebola under control.

"It is the world's first Ebola epidemic and it is spiraling out of control. It's bad now and it's going to get worse in the very near future," Frieden told CBS News. "There is still a window of opportunity to tamp it down, but that window is closing. We really have to act now."

"We need to support countries with resources, with technical experts and with cooperation. Too many places are sealing off these countries," Frieden told CBS News. "If we do that, paradoxically, it's going to reduce safety everywhere else. Whether we like it or not, we're all connected and it's in our interest to help them tamp this down and control it."

Gee, that's not very nice...'sealing off the countries that have reported cases of Ebola'. Why on earth would they do that?

Incredibly stupid PC drivel to the bitter end, no matter what the consequences.  It's racist to not subject the rest of the world to the epidemic.

Sealing off places that have it is called quarantine, and is absolutely the right thing to do!

It can be a PANDEMIC (multiple countries) if you don't keep it where it is.

KEEP IT in Africa.

IF the U.S. has or can develop a cure for this disease then we should share it. Freely too.

Note the period.

I am among the first who will tell you that the U.S. is not the worlds policeman.

That the taxpayers of the United States do not pay their tax's so their Government can give handouts to everyone else in the world.

That the United States government was created in order to protect, defend, and uphold the Constitution the sovereignty and freedoms of the American people. Not act as the social program for the world.

BUT in this case, helping them with curing this disease, helps us.

Because with the travel that goes on today, it is only a matter of time before this dreaded disease finds it's way to our shores.

So by curing it there at the source, we help ourselves by ensuring it doesn't show up here.

As for sealing of nations where it's at. That too is a good idea.

As harsh as it may sound, when dealing with infectious diseases which have high mortality and no cure.

Quarantine is often the best and only way to ensure the safety and health of others.

How do you quarantine something like HIV when it may not even be detectable until three months after being infected? How was HIV a failure to quarantine?

Ebola is not like HIV. And your statement that HIV is not detectable until three months after infection is incorrect as well.

A simple blood test is all it takes to show if there is infection or not.

But with Ebola it's even easier than that. If they're bleeding from their eyes, it's a pretty good bet somethings wrong, quarantine em.

That said, when Ebola shows up here, and there's no food on the shelves, no gas in tanks at the gas station and the entire nation is at a stand still...

It will be these liberal do gooders who didn't want anything done in Africa such as quarantine of the sick...who are among if not THE first to scream for something to be done.

I would urge, suggest, everyone stock up on food and other necessities etc.

Look I've worked in Medicine both inside the military and outside of it.

And when you see surgeons who drop surgical tools on the floor, then pick them up and use them anyhow......and other things, wellllll lets just say I don't have much faith in the CDC and those responsible for medical practice and policy in this nation.

ESPECIALLY where government agencies are concerned. Truthfully folks if you'd seen what I've seen in my short time on this Earth, when I was in medicine, you'd be skeptical and think it's only a matter of time before Ebola shows up in "other" parts of the world.

AND you can be assured, that when the first few cases show up here in the United States, it's going to cause a panic.

Ferguson Missouri, isn't nothing compared to the mass panic/civil unrest I foresee coming if and when one or two Ebola case's are found to have originated/spread within the U.S.

Yes that's what it is. A ticking time bomb Walks. And with Three Thousand American's on the ground there.

They've just lit the fuse.

While I am of the opinion that if we have developed a vaccine against Ebola, we should share it freely with West Africa. Because that in turn protects our population from acquiring it.

I do have to say also that the United States Government has zero business acting like it is the world's healthcare agency as well.

For christsakes we (we being the American taxpayer) already shill out billions in handouts (foreign aid) to these nations.

What more are we supposed to do? Cut a leg off, give them part of our liver, and donate a lung and kidney?

Enough is enough.

Congress needs to act to stop this deployment of troops.

And force the TSA/customs to deny entry into the United States.

To ANYONE attempting to enter the United States through one of our ports, if they have travelled to these area's recently.

Including diplomats, dr's, missionaries, even The Obama himself (if he's hypothetically been there)

Of course this does nothing to stop someone from just walking on in across the southern border.

But that's a diff topic for a diff thread.

That's been my biggest bitch about this whole Fuck Up!

One of two things are occurring, or both. (1) doctors coming down with this plague means they are incompetent.

Or (2) The disease is far more contagious than thought, with the ability to get past hazmat suits.

Either way, we have no business in a contagion zone, we should be at the border containing them like a zombie outbreak.

You're right about Ebola, however you can actually test negative for HIV three months after exposure, in some cases even six months after. So you can see how a person could test negative and then go on to infect others.

I was just referring to Billy's Bayonet's post that implied we somehow dropped the ball by not quarantining the known cases early. Do to the long incubation times, that wasn't possible with HIV.

See here for the 3-6 month thing:

NO, thanks! I wonder if any of the 3,000 will refuse to go. I sure as hell would and take the court-martial.
