Thats one data point.

Here's a second:

http://www.poseidonwater.com/huntington-beach-desalination-plant.html

They are building a desalination plant in Huntington Beach, about 50 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

At first I thought this was a Democrat pay back to a big donor.

But..

Those houses you see in the background of the plant picture, yea, they sell for a million dollars. Huntington Beach and NewPort Beach , the next city south are big elite enclaves.

So the elites are prepping and securing their water. Using tax payer monies. Nothing to see here.

What could they know that we don't?

Those poor illegals are going to suffer. But, wait they come from an environment of bad water and shortages.
The people who will suffer the most will be those who have had plenty of cheap clean water all their lives. The ones who have no idea what to do.

Yes, the Democratic party is going to poison the African American community.

Na,  that's crazy talk.

According to the site:

Poseidon Water will finance the Huntington Beach Desalination Facility for the benefit of the community, at no cost to taxpayers – a private investment for public gain. For more information about Poseidon Water please visit www.poseidonwater.com.

With that said, it falls under PUC regs, which generally means a solid 30% profit margin is automatically built in. So those hooking up to this water source can expect to see regular rate increases, and that doesn't include the cost of electricity.
Like peak demand, when the rates are excessively higher, which happens in summer, when people are thirstiest and tend to water plants.

I like it, but I think they need to be realistic about what they can expect to be in for. Build a nuke plant to power it, sell the excess to the grid and cut your costs dramatically.
Libs are their own worst enemy.

Quote
The plant would churn out some 50 million gallons each day of desalted ocean water for use to Orange County residents. It would cost nearly $1 billion in private and public funding to build out the infrastructure to get the water to residents and businesses.

I billion in private and public funding.

Yeah, from what I could find, it looks like the city did all the infrastructure, water hookups, electricity to power the plant, but who knows how much was actually disclosed and how much went to grease the palms of the corrupt.
It did, after all, have Boxer and Feinstein pushing it. When it's Ca, nothing is ever above board.

Gets even worse...

A document purportedly leaked from the Trump administration indicates that the proposed desalination plant in Huntington Beach is among 50 infrastructure projects nationwide that the president has designated as a priority.

The Kansas City Star and The News Tribune reported Tuesday that the $1 billion Poseidon Water desalination plant is on a list of dozens of projects across the country that would cost an estimated $137.5 billion in public-private partnerships. The newspapers reported that the documents have circulated within the congressional and business communities and that they offer a look at which projects might get funding as Trump moves to beef up America’s infrastructure and put more Americans to work.

Since 1998 Poseidon Water has been working to build a plant next to the AES power plant in Huntington Beach that would generate 50 million gallons each day, and could make up about 10 percent of the county’s drinkable water.

Environmentalists have opposed the development, saying increased salinity in the water could kill sea life and intake pipes could suck in microorganisms, further harming the area’s environment.

A question I have is: The sewage treatment plant is a mile south, they are injecting reclaimed water into the aquifer. why cann't they just run that water over to their desalination plant, using it,
