I see Mike Lee and his partner in crime Kamala Harris are working the crony capitalism program to benefit the big business like Google, Alphabet Inc., Facebook, and Amazon that donate money to their campaigns.

I understand getting a family member a job with the government but to monopolize the green card business to one country for ten plus years is just off the charts not right.

There must be something in the water in Utah with Mike Lee acting more like a rino than his counterpart Mitt Romney. I can hear Mitt Romney now...well done my rino friend, well done.

Sen. Mike Lee's Green Card Giveaway for Big Tech Blocked in Senate, for Now

Senator Mike Lee's (R-UT) green card giveaway for the nation's biggest tech corporations has been at least temporarily blocked in the U.S. Senate by Sen. David Perdue (R-GA).
On Thursday, as Lee attempted to push through his and Sen. Kamala Harris's (D-CA) S. 386 — legislation that would allow Indian nationals to effectively monopolize the U.S. green card system for at least ten years — Perdue blocked a vote because he is concerned about the impact the plan will have on rural healthcare industries.

"I support this bill ... we have some language that needs to be clarified," Perdue said. "And I still have some concerns about the impact this legislation would have on some specific industries in my state and in the country."

Lee said he expects to work with Perdue on getting his support in order to push for a vote sometime next week.

At stake is a massive giveaway for employment-based green cards for Big Tech — including those who have contributed directly to Lee, like Google, Alphabet Inc., and Amazon.

I see this post hasn't triggered a response. Well it's round two of Mike Lee's American killing jobs.

Well with all the hulla about Trump, Mike Lee is courting the democrats to back his American killing jobs and replacing them with India's workers. He wants to corner the market and take control of the green cards and hand them over to the workers of India.

The sad thing is my senator David Perdue lost my vote for flip flopping and backing Mike Lee's grab for American jobs.

I hope President Trump does the right thing by not signing this Bill that will kill a million American jobs.

Oh Mike Lee also along with Mitt Romney voted against Trump's emergency border wall funding.
I'm starting to see Mike Lee as a Justin Amash.

Sen. Mike Lee Urges Indian Workers to Lobby Top Democrat for Green Card Giveaway Bill

Lee's call to Indians came during his surprise live broadcast from his Senate website:

I'm going to seek unanimous consent again tomorrow to try to pass this bill in law tomorrow. We are concerned about the possibility of an objection being brought forward by my colleague, Senator Dick Durbin from Illinois. I hope that Mr. Durbin does not decide to bring about an objection. Mr. Durbin is a friend of mine. He and I have worked together on a number of issues. So if you happen to know Mr. Durbin, or know of anyone who is close to him, or who he might listen to him, please encourage him to not object to unanimous consent passage of the Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants. If he doesn't object, we can get this thing passed and get it passed tomorrow.

Sorry Bronx, but I just can't get excited about this. These aren't illegals running the border, these are intelligent people. If we don't pick them up, some other country is going to. I know a lot of Indians, and the majority of them are hard working conservative people, if we produced people of this caliber we wouldn't need to import them. These are Green Cards, not citizenship papers.

I do understand the Indians are are working people. So are the Italians, Irish, French etc, etc. What I'm saying is it okay for Mike Lee and David Perdue to monopolize the green card system for one country while the other counties scratch their heads thinking what about us....?

Now I have a full understanding why so many people at our southern border are jumping the fence. People like Mike Lee and David Perdue give them no reason whatsoever to try and enter the United States of American the right and legal way.

Lobbying will make a good conservative man sell his soul over a ham sandwich. I can see Mike Lee and David Perdue's bank accounts swell. I always said if you want a good retirement run for office in DC and win....if you want to be a multi millionaire when in office get lobbied by a country.

To me the green card issue is not about country of origin, it is about bringing workers with skills that will aid the US economy. That is and of itself is worthy. There is one huge problem. The program is carried out by government bureaucrats. There is not much they touch that is not corrupted by the bureaucrats or politicians.

This is not an increase on Green Cards. In truth, it's allowing people into the country who can support themselves and add to the paying tax base, unlike the border jumpers the left and RINO are so in favor of.

Yes sir I'm with you on bring the smartest and most talented people (like Trump would say) into the USA but to monopolize it to one country for ten years is dead wrong. That's where Mike Lee and David Perdue loses me. Otherwise I agree with you and Supsalemgr.

But it's what Trump wanted? Point being, we can't blame Lee for doing what Trump asked for.

It's been years, but I remember I had a few engineers on an H1-B visa.  I remember it was a very expensive process -- in the six figures for all of them when it was all said and done if I recall.

My thought is I'd rather have that more expensive, higher-level process to bring someone here to work.  If the cost to recruit, train, retain an employee is greater than just plopping down a ton of cash for a furner you know is ready to go (even with a language barrier) then that should be the criteria.  To put another way, if they're a better option and we (the company) realllllly wants them, and we really can't find an American -- or we can but it would take too long and be too expensive -- then yes.

I think indirectly this is related to why Trump is floating cutting payroll taxes (I assume the cut would also be on the employer side): https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/08/20/donald-trump-weighing-payroll-tax-cuts-steps-economy/2061234001/

Reducing labor costs for employers AND making it more expensive to bring on foreign talent I think is the better option.  You're not bringing on some MS-13 guy to reconfigure the networking in your data center, and the worse thing I ever saw my foreign employees was not wash out the coffee pot.  I guess you can take the engineer out of the third-world, but not the third-world out of the engineer.

Anyone who's owned a business knows how f*n huge it would be to reduce payroll costs.  That's like pouring gasoline on an already raging economic inferno.  Let the employee keep more of their check as well and look out Sally.

I think Trump is positioning to 1) put pressure on Congress to push for a cut as 2) businesses come back from China, making us more competitive on the labor side while 3) that increase in labor further waters the economic fire with gasoline.

And automobiles?  I'm sorry but Japanese and Korean made autos are not my cup of tea. Buy American or stop your whining and when You get a foreigner on the phone ask for an American. Consider the number of people in India and China and soon Americans will stand in line to work at MacDonald's.
