Minimum Wage, Maximum Stupidity
By Brian C. Joondeph

California is the latest state to dive headfirst into the shallow waters of raising the minimum wage. Predictably they are about to suffer, not a broken neck, but instead further injury to their already lackluster economy. Governor Jerry Brown recently announced a deal to raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2022.

This follows the efforts of other cities to raise their minimum wage last year, specifically Seattle and San Francisco. How did that work out? For large businesses that could pass on the wage increase to customers, no big deal. For smaller businesses such as bookstores or restaurants, not so well. Small businesses in competitive markets are unable to raise prices enough to cover their higher labor expense and instead reduce workers' hours or simply reduce workers.

Liberals never learn anything. They keep making the same stupid decisions over and over believing that this time it will be different. Well it won't be, but that will not stop them from trying.

But they FEEL better. That is liberal mentality. The actual results are not important.

Leftists promote a minimum wage not out of any love of workers,
but out of their hatred of free enterprise.
If they liked workers, they'd do things that actually help workers,
not hurt them.

A minimum wage is just part of the left's overall war on free enterprise.
Notice in the above posts: raising the minimum wage harms
small business much more than it does large corporations.
That is not "collateral damage" that the leftists just disregard,
it is their GOAL!
That's why Wall Street pours billions of dollars
into the campaigns of leftist politicians!

Big government is a natural ally of big business,
and a natural enemy of small business.
Wall Street fat cats fund DEMOCRAT politicians
to keep increasing regulatory burdens,
(including minimum wage)
which small businesses can't afford as well as big business.

Small business creates most of the new products and new jobs.
Big business pays government to crush small business
with regulations,
and then big business buys up the destroyed businesses
at fire sale prices.
If they do keep producing the products,
it's with far fewer employees.

Unemployment goes up, which the Democrats love!
They get to make more people dependent on government handouts.

If Democrats actually liked workers,
they'd do the opposite of what they're doing!
They'd lighten up on the regulations,
businesses would grow faster than the labor pool,
and then THE FREE MARKET would drive wages up,
in a natural way!

That's how America worked, until the 1960s and 70s,
when Democrats started multiplying regulations like an epidemic!
