I call Bull Shit!!!!
All terminals have isolated power backup systems, as well as the tower.
God, do they really think we're this damn stupid? Stop insulting our intelligence! There was a credible threat, I'd bet money on it.

"May have"? Believe me, they know the second an interruption occurs. Bet we'll never know the truth.

"Georgia Power believes the issue may have involved a fire "

A massive power outage brings air travel to a standstill at Atlanta's international airport.

Thousands of passengers are being evacuated from terminals at the world's busiest airport, as efforts to turn the power back on continue.

In response to the outage, the FAA issued a ground stop for flights heading into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Departures from the airport have been cancelled and WiFi and cell service have also been affected.

The outage comes as millions of people are traveling home and abroad for the Christmas holiday.

The cause of the outage is unknown, but power is expected to be restored by midnight eastern time.

"Georgia Power continues to work closely with Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport personnel onsite to restore power to the Airport as quickly as possible. Assessment and repair efforts are well underway at this time and the company expects to have power restored to the Airport by midnight tonight.

"Georgia Power believes the issue may have involved a fire which caused extensive damage in a Georgia Power underground electrical facility. The fire was safely extinguished by fire crews before Georgia Power could enter the area to assess damage and begin repairs.

"The event impacted not only the underground facilities, but also substations serving the Airport and, while the cause is not yet known, Georgia Power's system responded by isolating areas where equipment wasn't operating correctly to ensure safety and minimize damage. No personnel or passengers were in danger at any time.

Yet they went CYA and told the truth.

"Georgia Power has many redundant systems in place to ensure reliability for the Airport and its millions of travelers - power outages affecting the Airport are very rare."

Fire?  Yeah, sure.  I call BS too.
Looking at google maps, I spotted at least 7 huge power generation units at the Atlanta airport, including Delta's data center that had a massive failure in 2015 and was forced to install generators as back up.

Connecting some dots:

1 - The NY would-be bomber was thwarted... (I believe)

2 - Putin called Trump to thank him for intel on a bombing that was thwarted.

3 - The ATL airport took everything down to thwart something else...

It makes me think the new admin are now a step ahead of these Soros ops...

Guess who comes to help the stranded passengers...

QuoteFast food restaurant chain Chick-Fil-A is famously closed on Sundays, but that didn't stop them when people stranded at the Atlanta Airport needed help.

Chick-Fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy was a devout Christian, and his restaurants are all closed on Sundays, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Even the company's website has a different splash page on Sundays, showing a video message about why they are closed on Sunday.

I bet even hardcore leftists atheists maybe had a sandwich or two...

A reminder to me that I am grateful I am no longer on airplanes. I used to go through ATL twice a week changing planes. Sunday afternoons there are a zoo under normal circumstances.

My only issue here is, tell the truth, we can handle it.
I thought the same thing, that Putin reciprocated with some credible intel and Trump acted on it, and that's a good thing, I just hate the fact Homeland Security treated us like children, let us have our weapons back on flights we'll deal with any threats in the air.

Billy's bayonet

You good folks know how many Muslim "immigrants" work at most or all of our national airports......don't you?
If true the "fire" story could be rather plausible....leaving out who might have set it.

Various headlines are suggesting this sends a message to Terrorists.   What message is that!?   Another said it shows how ill prepared we are against attack.   What the hell is the MSM talking about?  Was there some kind of slaughter we're not hearing about, or were people inconvenienced?  Oh, I forgot, we have President Trump, and not a community disorganizer-in-chief in the WH.

Note to self:  the MSM will go to any length to attribute negative stories to President Trump, no matter how illogical or unsubstantiated.

Solar and I were talking about this earlier.  I do want to know the truth, but I can also understand how the perps of the attempted op wanted the panic and chaos.  I'm cool if they keep it dark for now and go with a fire-power outage cover story, robbing the desired effect from the perps.  Hopefully we do find out who it was at some point though...

Let us remember also how corrupt and incompetent the folks who run the airport and city of ATL are. That is part of the equation as well.

I *like* to think there was a considerable amount of "containment" taking place, the MSM knows nothing about...  more than putting out a simple transformer fire.   There is quite a bit of redundancy built into the entire Airport's infrastructure, just like any other system that is *expected* to provide critical support in the time of need.

If there was some type of Terrorist attack, they are wise, IMO, to keep it under wraps - the alternative, possibly being hoardes of people trying to flee and unknowingly running right into the affected area, jamming up escape & service routes, etc.  Over that large of an area, IMO, it's better to hunker down, relax, and be prepared *IF* something starts moving into your semi-protected area.
