I have become a global warming believer.

Seriously.

August in New Jersey is a horrible combination of 100 degree weather and soul destroying humidity. Not this year. This year global warming has wrought us daily temperatures in the 70's. No need for the air conditioner overnight as we sleep peacefully with windows open and a breeze ushering in a comfortable low 60's climate. Comfortable temperatures, lower energy bills and no humidity.

I hereby embrace global warming and it's inventor Al Gore.

Heh. Here in Ohio (The Heart Of It AllTM), we're finally starting to see summer weather -- now that fall's just around the corner. One day back in early June, the temp threatened to crack 90, and I got so excited I dug out the window A/C unit and put it in the bedroom window. I ran it that day, and that night a cold front came through, drenched everything, and dropped the temp 15 degrees. I haven't touched that window unit since because the daytime temps have been mostly in the 70s, and never out of the low 80s since.

We're supposed to have mid- to upper-80s over the next few days, then another Alberta Clipper is supposed to drop things down to the low seventies, and then it'll be September and I'll be shopping for propane.

One thing we've had whoppin' gobs of around here this year -- rain. 2 1/2 inches just day before yesterday. This is the first year in the six I've been here that I couldn't get my vegetable garden planted for the rain. Absolutely NO yellow or brown grass! Normally, this time of year I can go without mowing most of the place for weeks because the grass is brown and dormant. Not this year! I just mowed last Sunday and Monday, and I'll be mowing again tomorrow.

And of course, the fringe benefit that accompanies the rain -- mosquitoes. Worst I've ever seen around here.

If it's all the same to you, I'm still gonna despise Al Gore, whether he invented this frigid warming or not. I just can't stand the guy.

In the 60 years I've lived in Ca, I can't remember a cooler August.
If this is any prognostication for the winter, we're in for an early cold one, and I'm not looking forward to sub zero temps in the least.
But I am enjoying the reprieve from the sweltering heat.

We are having similar weather in the land of 10,000 lakes. We have been averaging 75-85 degrees, this last week has been closer to summertime temps with higher heat indexes. We have not even put in the A/C's this year and I am not complaining one bit.

I think Solar is right though, we are in for a cold winter. Better get to chopping extra wood now.

You name it, we've had it here in the Bible Belt.  Coolest July and August we've had in years.  I'm talking temps in the low to mid nineties for July/Aug this year.  Usually have temps upward of 100 deg.  I stepped out on the deck this morning when the "sheriff" went to work at 6am and the temp was 57 deg.  Expected high is near 90.  A very mild summer so far.  We had two days last week that were hot and very humid but nothing like the endless weeks of humidity and high temps we've experienced in the past 2 decades.  That two days of high heat finished off my veggies except the okra which really thrives in lots of sun.  My flowers withered and I thought they were goners but are still hanging on though they look like the sap is leaving them, dry and discolored.  I long for those 70 deg. days and the lower temps at night some of you mentioned.
