Live broadcast on Youtube from south Florida.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Sm8A-u1vIA&spfreload=10

A reporter stopped a jogger, asked if she knew she was in a mandatory evacuation area.   She said she had not decided whether or not they would leave...  Naturally, she was late teens or early twenties - still invincible, in her own mind.

Having been in the insurance industry for 47 years I continue to be amazed that too many folks don't understand storm surge. That is the real killer. A 6 foot storm surge is deadly. Even if one is over six feet tall the power of the moving water cannot be overcome.

Listening to the live broadcast, they're saying several people didn't know they were in an evacuation zone!!!
Several houses are not boarded up, then they cut away to a tree that's fallen, blocking 3 lanes of traffic.
They got tornadoes all over the place - what are these knuckleheads thinking?
Do these people think the roadways would always be wide open to run at the last minute!?!?!?

This broadcast is originating from Tampa.

I'm getting the impression...  the folks who could have left, but stayed behind, will be the first ones crying in front of a TV camera, "We lost everything, boo-hoo!!!" - or in a body bag, loading into an ambulance.

Impressive, it turned right where models said it would. Just think, if Warmers actually had one tenth the data we have on Irma, they'd give up this silly lie that man affects the weather.
Hell, we can't even kill, let alone steer a hurricane yet. Hell, as humans, we're so stupid that many in Fl. stayed home to watch the event take place.

A 13yr veteran cop died in a car crash.    So, people are dying trying to keep stupid people from dying.

Curfew just issued - WHY!?   It's already illegal to be there during a mandatory evacuation, in Florida.  So, the Cops get to risk their lives for stupid people trying to beat the "Darwin effect."

There obviously needs to be a law that states police and fire leave the city 24 hrs prior, anyone staying behind is on their own.
You couldn't pay me enough to battle 8' waves and 130+ winds in a cop cruiser. Sorry lady, you got the same warning we all did, sink, swim, or sail bitch, but your ass is on its own.

Well, was it all it was hyped out to be?
Came ashore with a vengeance and disappeared over night.

It always helps to have the storm over land. We are still expecting 30-40mph gusts and 2"-3" of rain this evening in the WNC mountains.

So far 10 deaths reported due to Irma. Any loss of life is terrible, but that is a low number for the magnitude of the storm. I'm sure more will be found once we know what the extent of damage in the Keys is determined.

Up here in the WNC mountains it is still raining from remnants of the storm and to last into this afternoon. We have 5000 in my county without power due to the winds last night.

We in the Northwest have 28 large forest fires or grasslands fires.  We have not had clean air for over a month.  And this is not counting 23 fires burning in California.

QuotePresident Donald Trump's estate on the Caribbean island of St. Martin survived Hurricane Irma nearly unscathed, while fellow billionaire Richard Branson's private estate in the British Virgin Islands did not fare as well.

Citing photos taken of the property, USA Today reported that Trump's Chateau des Palmiers located on the French-controlled side of the island "is still standing with hardly a single roof tile lost."

What kind of Hurricane is this Irma?!?!?!   wiping out liberals, Richard Branson, and sparing - >gasp< Donald Trump!?
Was it a neo-conservative hurricane...?     Life is not fair for Liberals.

QuoteTrump had listed the property for sale by Sotheby's International Realty for $16.9 million prior to the storm.

The Category 5 hurricane, with sustained winds of 185 mph, destroyed 95 percent of the rest of the island, according to USA Today.

Moral of the story - Donald Trump, the builder & real estate financier *knows* how to build Hurricane proof buildings.
With all the rebuilding about to start, people would be wise to consult Trump associates, eh?
