How Stephen Colbert fakes the news
« on: May 19, 2017, 03:27:17 PM »
Last night was a prime example of how CBS fakes the news on
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Colbert read a headline about Trump saying that
reporters who reveal classified information should be jailed.
Colbert then quickly said that Trump said that
reporters who say things Trump doesn't like should be jailed.

He made a few jokes that assumed the same idea, that
reporters who say things Trump doesn't like should be jailed.

Here's what he said:

Trump started by saying that Mr. Comey should consider
putting reporters in prison for publishing classified information.
You can't put reporters in prison just because
you don't like what they are publishing?
That's like burning down a movie theater because
it's showed "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword."

Slack-minded viewers (like the entire live audience)
never noticed the switch.
Just like Pavlov's dogs, they displayed the conditioned response
just as they had been trained to do.
Millions of people went to bed
believing that Trump wants to censor the news.
Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.
