Title: Gun, ammo sales drop under Trump
Post by: quiller on May 12, 2017, 04:45:40 AM
The CNN headline was encouraging but a bit wordy...

'Unprecedented' drop in demand for guns since Trump election'

...But the subhead was nothing short of breathtaking, downplaying the WHY:

Gun sales had thrived under Obama administration

QuoteGun sales had thrived under the Obama administration and during Hillary Clinton's campaign. Gun enthusiasts feared the Democratic leaders would impose stricter gun control laws. With Trump in the White House and Republicans running Congress, that threat has vanished, and sales are suffering.

I say "encouraging" because gun-grabbers didn't win, or even come close. We clung to our guns and religion, no matter what that Muslim treason artist had to say, or the lying skank who tried to succeed him.

Article contains at least one obligatory idiotic "assault rifle" reference, and more! Also here is news about my two best friends, Smith & Wesson.....

QuoteVista owns 50 brands, including Savage Arms, which makes a variety of guns, including military-style semiautomatic rifles, and the ammo brands Federal Premium Ammunition, Estate Cartridge, American Eagle, Speer Ammo, Blazer and CCI.

The company also owns Bushnell, which makes binoculars and gun scopes, Bushnell Golf, which makes golf course rangefinders, and Bollé, which makes sunglasses and ski goggles.

Another gun company, Sturm Ruger, reported on Tuesday that retailers have a glut of inventory in modern sporting rifles, also known as assault rifles or AR-15s, because retailers stockpiled them before Election Day, expecting Clinton to win.

Another gun company, Smith & Wesson, has been expanding into non-gun outdoor products like tree saws and survival gear and changed its name last year to American Outdoor Brands.

Now, I'm not much on marketing and such, but isn't it a good thing to lower prices to clear out overstocked inventory? This one outfit says they'll adjust their on-line presence. (Meaning, sales pitches.) If so, in what way is this a bad thing for volume buyers?

Stock up now with a couple of skids of your fave! And if they're overstocked on 40mm grenades, make that three!

Still waiting for the prices to return to a reasonable level...

When I can reload shot-gun cheaper than buying from Wally World, then I'll resume shooting trap & skeet.

My last check, a 25lb bag of shot was still $45.  Stuff I useto pay $6.50 a bag.   I just can't afford to shoot, and by the time I might be able to again, my old bones might be too far gone to enjoy it.   At least there's still sex

Don't expect the price to drop anytime soon, the cost of lead went up with demand for batteries and recycling of old lead, and never recovered.
Unless Trump reins in the EPA on this, lead prices will never recover.

I actually get up that way...
Manassas Makers Faire, Berryville... not for guns/ammo, but for the HAM radio stuff.

Slowly... prices are coming down.
