George Will: if Trump wins nod, vote Cruz anyway

Well, it's a bit more triple-think than the headline suggests, here, but old George is also saying forget rules we wrote elsewhere and long, long ago (in a galaxy, etcetera). Toss out rules, cheat the ones who believe Republicans STICK to what they say. And don't let Trump in the White House.

Go Cruz.

QuoteWill warns a Trump nomination would create "down-ballot carnage" that could end Republican control of the House.

"At least half a dozen Republican senators seeking reelection and Senate aspirants can hope to win if the person at the top of the Republican ticket loses their state by, say, only four points, but not if he loses by 10," Will wrote, saying Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever.

He calls on voters in upcoming primary states, Indiana and California, to vote for Ted Cruz, to "make the Republican convention a deliberative body rather than one that merely ratifies decisions made elsewhere, some of them six months earlier."

"A  convention's sovereign duty is to choose a plausible nominee who has a reasonable chance to win, not to passively affirm the will of a mere plurality of voters recorded episodically in a protracted process."

He adds, however, that if Trump wins the nomination, the GOP should work instead toward cutting presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton's term to four years.

I ask the question as this subject comes up all the time. Yes, Trump has high negatives, but so does Hillary. There is no question Trump has discovered a base of support that has surprised everyone. Those two factors seem to cancel out. However, it seems to me the pundit class in NY and Washington are ignoring the energy factor which shows democrats way down republican way up. That to me does not add up to a down ticket disaster.

There was a question, squire?

In this case, RINO Supreme George Will (last authentic vanguard of the baseball-lovin', apple-pie-chompin', bowtie-wearin', scrubbed-'n'-groomed Decent American Compassionate Conservatives™)....well, if Trump wins the nod, vote Cruz anyway!

As it happens, I did this just a few days ago. Giving the man his due, here....

I probably should have placed a "?" after my last sentence.

Right with ya, so far.

Still no question but I'm still right with ya because the average voter does not care one or even part of one damn about any other politicians than whom they came to vote on. Now, the pols and a few or maybe even more than a few poli-junkies might get exercised about "down ticket" chicanery...but in this atmosphere, WHO CARES?

No, please I implore you, this is not any attack on you whatsoever, squire, I mean this nation as a whole. The Donks have failed to prevent sheer criminals like Bubba and Shrill from again shit-staining our Constitution. Racist New Yawk loudmouthed trash on the GOP side is not one stinking iota better. The 2016 election can only be solved with Ted Cruz --- and both the GOP and the Donks know it and refuse to admit it.

...(*deep breath*....*again*)....

Is this freaking thing OVER with, yet?

I was thinking about that the other day. There's a good amount of "Voter fatigue" already out there.

And the General election hasn't even started yet.

I hope that does not translate into low voter turnout again.

The last time folks did that. It gave us Obozo and didn't turn out so well for those of us who are Americans.

One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)

I am hopeful there is enough anti Hillary sentiment out there that conservatives will be energized to vote against her.

Leaving us with Trump, and someone who would give away America rather than lose face in the "art" of his deal.

If the Trumpanzees figure THEIR trash has it in the bag, that exact same mentality will ensure we get Clinton. As it is, voters are starting to realize what a repeat of Obama's empty suit that Trump really is. Truth will win out and we will get President Cruz.
