Quote
Alex Jones, the American conspiracy theorist who runs the InfoWars website, has been suspended from Facebook for bullying and hate speech.

The suspension will last for 30 days, and affects only Jones’s personal account on the social network, not the main InfoWars account. His profile will continue to be published, but he will not be not be able to post content until the suspension elapses.

A Facebook spokesperson told the Guardian Jones was found to have violated its community standards.

“Our community standards make it clear that we prohibit content that encourages physical harm [bullying], or attacks someone based on their religious affiliation or gender identity [hate speech],” the spokesperson said.

“We remove content that violates our standards as soon as we’re aware of it. In this case, we received reports related to four different videos on the pages that InfoWars and Alex Jones maintain on Facebook. We reviewed the content against our community standards and determined that it violates. All four videos have been removed from Facebook.”

Slowly killing the Freedom Of Speech.

I don't watch him. But if a loud month gets silenced, how soon before the quiet person is unable to say something?

He can stay off of facebook and say what he damn well pleases. The government will not arrest him for acting crazy. Just as a private business can ban someone from conceal carry without violating the 2nd.

Are things like the social media industry really "private business"? Their whole purpose is to get everybody to join to express themselves. No payments or fees. No height requirements. No age restrictions. No purposes.  It's not like it's a local coffee shop with a limited amount of seating. The avenue to which to communicate might change but the purpose remains the same.

Yes, we know this. But, an argument can be made that this is one of those businesses/industries where it isn't really a "private business" by the standard definition of it.

I look at it like this: if companies are in the pocket of government (the way Liberal ran media companies are in the pocket of Liberal politicians), then they are an extension of it. And just because Trump is now President instead of Obama, it doesn't change their past discrepancies. They are still an extension of Liberal politicians.

Besides, if Liberals wanna demand Conservatives run their business a specific way, then we Conservatives demand that Liberal business is ran a certain way.

Both of you have valid arguments. But what makes this particular issue so different, is that the CIA played a major role in its development, so in truth, it was taxpayer funded and should be regulated accordingly.
Two, Jones was warned beforehand that he would be suspended for 30 days over listed criteria, it's in the article, but that he was one of the few protected sites and not to mess with.

Then there's the real issue of Jones playing this up for attention and getting us to support him, a known moronic freak.
This is another perfect example of, pick your battles. He is not worth our time, the guy is not a Conservative, he is the Al Sharpton/Jesse/Westboro Baptist church/ISIS wrapped into one freak who wants to be taken seriously.

What he's doing is nothing less than a publicity stunt. His numbers were plummeting since Q outed him as a traitor to the cause, so he was looking at obscurity.
So what does he do? He sets himself up as a victim of the Marxists, knowing full well people on the right would rally in support.

Fuck this guy, he's a fraud and a freak, always has been a mouth breather and nowhere near a Conservative.

When the bill of rights was written it was meant only for federal government and was not intended to apply to the States, how far should it go now? Should the courts and government run all business?

I'm with you on this, Faceplant is, in essence, a private business and exempt from Federal persecution, however, as I pointed out, a case could be made that it was built with taxpayer dollars via the CIA and subject to govt rules and regs.

What bugs the fuck out of me, are the idiots on the Right keeping it alive by using it. I dumped them a long time ago and refuse to participate in their oppression of Conservative voices.
People claim to be victims, yet keep a faceplant page of their own, it makes absolutely no sense, because you can't be stifled if you don't play their game.

Never been a part of FB but my wife and kids are on it constantly, as I suspect the grandkids will to if it isn't bankrupt by then. And I don't think if it fails the government should bail them out but that door will open if the government starts telling them how to run their businesses.

The same could be said about Google and all the taxpayer support it received, making it the biggest in the world.
In truth, during the Obozo years, the left made all of these groups extensions of the Dim party, and Trump needs to cut off their govt teat.

Maybe, like teddy the trust buster, trump can use anti-trust laws to break google and faceplant into smaller companies since right now they control such a large part of the market?
Then they wld be better subject to market forces which would limit their leftism.

We established that I don't watch him on a regular basis. But, I look at the bigger picture. Liberal ran social medial outlet silencing Conservatives.

Yeah, they warned him on "their" standards". We all know about their standards. We all know Liberals don't have standards. We can bet that they warned him for what accounts to being mean while turning a blind eye to actual threats of violence from the Liberals, Fascists, Communists, and Socialists. Just look how they killed the Roseanne TV show while not giving Samantha Bee the same treatment. They have no standards.

As I said, he is a loudmouth. Maybe he shouldn't be so loud. But, they will go after the loudmouths first and that will prevent us quiet ones from being able to say something.

No one is arguing there isn't any bias. From your own post:

“We remove content that violates our standards as soon as we’re aware of it. In this case, we received reports related to four different videos on the pages that InfoWars and Alex Jones maintain on Facebook. We reviewed the content against our community standards and determined that it violates. All four videos have been removed from Facebook.”

The suspension means Jones will not be able to post content to pages for which he is a “page admin”. As the suspension applies only to Jones personally, the channel bearing his name on Facebook will remain active, as will InfoWars itself, which has several page administrators. The intention is to prevent individuals from working around the ban by using multiple pages to violate policy.

According to a Facebook source, Jones had previously been warned that he had repeatedly violated the company’s policies, and told that the next time he did so he would be suspended for 30 days."

This is why I think Jones is using this in an attempt to play victim status in order to garner sympathy. Jones knew he would be suspended so he took advantage of the situation and forced them to suspend him.
Problem is, Jones is not a Conservative, so he doesn't warrant our sympathies.

Again, I must stress, pick your battles. I see this akin to supporting Westburrow Baptist Church over religious persecution. They're about as Christian as the Devil himself, as Jones is to Conservatism.
