Coffee?  nope!  We use a Bunn Coffee maker to brew TEA.  Does a wonderful job of producing some of the best TEA, never steeped so long to bring out the Tannins, but still brews the best pot of TEA I've ever had.

She has a dedicated tea-water unit. I get the cheapie (and remain surprised it holds up so well!). On to the movies....

QuoteMy kids asked me while watching a couple of the Comix-to-movies - "where the comix like that?"   "I replied, just a few parts, they absolutely ruined Spiderman and the villains, Superman was a complete disaster, a joke, Batman followed the 1960's made-for-TV closer than the printed stuff.   So far, only Iron Man was the closest to capturing anything familiar - and that was just fair..."  that's what happens when political correctness takes over movies and ESPN - they start to SUCK!

DC Comics went off the cliff ages ago. Now that the Chinese bought Legendary, expect more heavy-handed politics and "suitable Chinese locations."

Disney has always been about reshaping the minds to their vision, just consider the anti-hunting movie "Bambi."

If I was five years old, watching somebody blow the head off a cute little deer --- and dressing it out --- just might be a bit much, don'tcha think?

In this case consider the intended audience. Adults got more subtext from Fantasia (deservedly so).

Before I forget, check out Sonny Bunch movie reviews. He's with the Washington Free Beacon. Editor, I think.

Not only is ESPN tone deaf they are going nuts and calling dirty pool because they are being left behind. Their lawyer department is working overtime to keep the cash cow flowing. This should interesting when these lawsuits hits the counts.

ESPN Left Behind With New 'Skinny Bundling' Cable Programming Options

ESPN seems to be the big loser in the latest trends for cable pricing plans, analysis shows.
As the cable industry struggles with customers "cutting the cord" and ending their relationship with cable television, the industry is toying with a new way to sell cable by offering "skinny bundles" of networks. The new plans of fewer networks will sell at a lower price point than the more expensive, all-inclusive plans presented to customers since cable came on the scene.

But, cable networks that have high overhead costs like ESPN just don't fit in with bundles of cheaper programming, meaning that the nearly 40-year-old sports network is on the losing end of the stick with the new pricing plans. This complicates the future of a network already groaning under the loss of millions of viewers.

They really need to get over themselves and claiming it's because of cable cutters, they still own the content and the fact that people dumped ESPN because of liberalism, nothing else.
If they don't want people watching sports on other venues, they can simply lock it down, but then, they wouldn't make money through other venues off the web, as they do today.
I laugh at their hollow tears.

I think that is a BIG part of it, but something broader is going on in the sports world too.  The content is being overwhelmed with Political Correctness and people aren't buying it.   Plus, why would someone PAY ESPN to watch a sporting event, and subject themselves to commercials?  If I wanted to watch a football game, just bunch all the commercials into halftime, so I can go to the bathroom, make some dip for the chips, and not miss the game.   The actual content is growing OLD as well.

10 years ago, NASCAR was the fastest growing sport on television.  Today, they can't find enough people to fill the stadium seats.
Next weekend, look at all the empty seats at Indy, The Greatest Spectical in Racing.  Ticket Scalpers were selling below face value, last year.  I honestly don't know how to describe it, but people are turning off sports & TV in general.  We could be returning to the Golden Age of Radio, when you could listen to a Baseball game and still accomplish something useful.

Another thing that's hurting ESPN, the player's personal lives.  Between the HUGE salaries, and debauchery, thuggary and personal lives completely outside mainstream America - who can relate to these media-hyped, so-called "Super Stars".   When Hannah Storm and Bob Costas did the Barcalonia Olympics, they spent FAR TOO MUCH time on the individual Olympians personal lives.   Compare that to Jean Claude Kiley of the the 1960's who was an international downhill skiing star, and all he did was WIN and wear a "chicken hat".
The actual sports "content" was lacking, because someone thought they could remake "ABC's Wide World of Sports" in to "ESPN's Wonderful World of Political Correctness".

Case in point:  Why the hell did the cameras start showing every end-zone frolick and idiotic dance at the end of a play?  Diminish the good sportsmanship of play, and enter the grandstanding thugs and idiots!  I love to hear the Packers pound on the Bears, but I don't like an idiot dumping Jim McMahon on his head after a play - I want a clean, honest win, not injuries to either side.  Yet, the people at ESPN glorified by playing the worst of the bad behaviour as "good athleticism".   Maybe, by sensationalizing the worst-of-the-worst, good sense has come to us, and we're saying, "...that's about all I can stomach..." - we're interested in the actual GAME, not this other garbage, no matter who's team it is, ours or theirs.

The movie "Rollerball" from a long time ago, is based on the assumption people values will degenerate into Gladiator style sport.
I hope not...  At least on the field, when an athlete is hurt, the play stops until they're carted off the field.  I guess it shows we still want some "fair play" instead of unending controversy.  ESPN has gone out-of-their-way to stoke controversy among teams & players, whether it actually existed or not.  It might have boosted ratings for a little while, but it also diminished the game - and worst of all, the commentators jumped right in there - and good color commentary was forgotten... ESPN is their own worst enemy, I don't feel a bit sorry for their decline.

I do feel sorry for those athletes who the media held up as super-stars, who used drugs and bad play or poor sportsmanship to create an unrealistic image.  They seem to die much younger than the rest of us, physically & mentally "used up" by the sports marketing machine, ESPN being the worst of them all, IMO.  Colin Kapaernick is one example of a kid with a tremendous arm, who lacked sense to realize ESPN was using him as a tool for ratings.  I hope other athletes have paid attention, there is a line of patriotism that once crossed means you're done with the American viewer.

As for ESPN sensationalizing the worst for profit and pushing political correctness, the audience they are appealing to - doesn't watch sports to begin with.   DUH!   You've managed to insult the majority of your audience, and they're moving on.

I believe I know the answer and why the left is willing to lose money because it was money well spent toward their end goal of destroying America.
Here it is in short.

Sports is American values personified. It's all about competition based on rules and structure, camaraderie, trust and etiquette and most of all, Fairness.
Destroy American sports with a solid infusion of liberalism, and the public loses the next generation.

QuoteGolden Age of Radio, when you could listen to a Baseball game and still accomplish something useful.

You can go into most anyplace and there a TV or two going.

But go in a farmers work shop and there no TV just a radio going.
Most farms around me have 4 car garages for the house, all they have are radios.   Most also have farmers CB radios going also 24/7 that way they can help each other when needed as cell phones don't work in all areas.

DANG SOLAR!!!   Right on the money.   Corrupt the sports, drive that wedge, question and destroy the rules, ruin the game.   Instant replay is hurting every sport that uses it, IMO.

Ben there, grew up with that.   We still turn on a radio while we work, find a ball game or something - listen to Mark Levin pod cast.   I heard good Polka music helps the milk drop (dairy farm).

Exactly!!! IR was designed with the thought that removing trust from the very people charged with keeping structure and game flow, in other words, destroy all credibility of the rule keepers and the sport loses its appeal..

hmmm.... might be onto something there.

It also allows stupid commentators call the game - something the TV commentators completely SUCK at.
Where'd they get some of these yahoos from?  These guys on TV are terrible and half the guys on Radio aren't much better.

Did you know, for the Chicago Bears fans, they say, "Da Bears will be working Left to Right on your radio dial" or vice versa - and the Bear fans actually look at the digital radio frequency?      They fall for that one everytime!

Since I quit watching sports decades ago, I can't really speak to the current crop of Marxists at ESPN, but I remember a time when one could pick up a paper and read the baseball stats of a game and imagine the excitement of the game in a play by play of just the stats alone.

But now these Marxist idiots have so influenced the game with their leftist antics, the stats are merely an end result of an assault on a straight forward all American sport, now infused with PC BS, from drug use to demanding network disrespect of our flag and National Anthem.
Leftist antics designed to take the Patriotism out of the sport, in doing so, effects on the final outcome of any given game, not the game by itself or the ability of the players of a team, no, the interference of PC bullshit influencing the final score.

When a single player is more news worthy because of refusing to stand for the national Anthem, the sport is lost.
In the past, the league would have banned together and fired his worthless ass, but those days are gone and so is sports on the professional level.

The real controversy is suppose to be played out on the field, the actual game.  ESPN gave this guy the *wrong* platform, they encouraged this political protest, from a really talented athlete.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whWYQbODdtg

Not much of a baseball fan myself, but, it looks like this guy could be a pitcher if he got his head screwed on right.
Unfortunately, by shining the light on individual stupidity ... his football career is screwed.
If you got amazing talent, use it to the best of your ability, enjoy the praise and just do what people expect - keep the rest to yourself.

Athletes ... just ... sort of fail in the political and intellectual fields.   ESPN hasn't done them any favors.  Like Bob Costas seemed like a good guy, until he opened his mouth about gun control.  Just had to ruin it, eh, Bob?  Colin?  ESPN?
