ESPN concerns drag on Disney, shares dip
« on: May 10, 2017, 05:57:40 AM »
Leftists still in denial, or simply embarrassed that no one wants their bull shit shoved down their throats.
Sure, blame it on cable cutting, but if that were truly the case, wouldn't all cable venues be suffering? Fact is, people dumped ESPN because it was taken over by Marxists.
As long as the left keeps denying reality, all the better for the rest of us.

A decline in subscribers and higher programming costs at cash-cow ESPN weighed on shares of Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) on Tuesday, overshadowing a quarterly profit that topped Wall Street estimates.

Investors have been closely watching how ESPN navigates the shakeup in television as viewers defect from traditional pay TV services and online services proliferate. Chief Executive Bob Iger told analysts that Disney added customers on new digital platforms, but not enough to make up for subscriber losses from expanded basic cable packages.

Shares of the world's biggest entertainment company dropped 2.4 percent in after-hours trading.

They obviously became too political and sports fans are not looking for that. Also, they have tried to strong arm cable providers and this may have backfired.

Some things just don't mix.  I would not go to a coffee shop looking for a milkshake.

Yep, politics over quality apparently politics was far more important to leftist share holders.
Now Disney is feeling the pain of being too far leftist and eating it by the millions.

I weep for Walt's dream of entertaining children, only to be taken over by a bunch of pedophiles.

My town has a functioning retail coffee shop inside its public-tax-money-supported library. Children are allowed to bother adults: librarians don't bother to check to see if parents treat them as unpaid babysitters.

Democrats. Can't function without overpriced bad coffee, delivered in the building because they're too busy impressing each other to actually go across the street to a second shop. They in turn attract twice the crowd---they don't permit running children.

I am a cheap SOB I will make my own.

I have 5 thermos, all stainless steel.  I can remember drinking all the coffee you like for 5¢.

Mein frau and I are both caffeine fiends of a serious nature. I used to burn up one Mr. Coffee unit (about $25) every four months without fail. The more serious Bunn domestic brewers (like about $100) lasted maybe nine or ten months. I can say that the cheapie $14 Rival unit has lasted us a year. (Who knew?)

I'm still using my 1970s Alladin model thermos (small "t"), which guarantees I get to drink the entire pot. Mrs. Teeth looks inside it when it's empty and won't drink anything poured from it. Me, I think of it as like aging a meerschaum pipe. Then she goes and ruins it, running a steel brush inside it after the citrus interior-treatment to wipe off crud.....

ESPN is another business I can't conceptualize how anyone could fuck up.  Blockbuster is another.

No.  Blockbuster not dealing with the market change that they were dominantly positioned in killed them.

Not only is ESPN tone deaf they are going nuts and calling dirty pool because they are being left behind. Their lawyer department is working overtime to keep the cash cow flowing. This should interesting when these lawsuits hits the counts.

ESPN Left Behind With New ‘Skinny Bundling’ Cable Programming Options

ESPN seems to be the big loser in the latest trends for cable pricing plans, analysis shows.
As the cable industry struggles with customers “cutting the cord” and ending their relationship with cable television, the industry is toying with a new way to sell cable by offering “skinny bundles” of networks. The new plans of fewer networks will sell at a lower price point than the more expensive, all-inclusive plans presented to customers since cable came on the scene.

But, cable networks that have high overhead costs like ESPN just don’t fit in with bundles of cheaper programming, meaning that the nearly 40-year-old sports network is on the losing end of the stick with the new pricing plans. This complicates the future of a network already groaning under the loss of millions of viewers.

Coffee?  nope!  We use a Bunn Coffee maker to brew TEA.  Does a wonderful job of producing some of the best TEA, never steeped so long to bring out the Tannins, but still brews the best pot of TEA I've ever had.

--------------

Was reading some of the notes & replies to the movie Trailer for Wonder Woman, which Disney ought to pay attention to, since they own the the two hottest movie franchises, Lucasfilm Ltd. & Marvel Entertainment, LLC.  The comments were, "Please, Please, Don't SUCK!"

My kids asked me while watching a couple of the Comix-to-movies - "where the comix like that?"   "I replied, just a few parts, they absolutely ruined Spiderman and the villains, Superman was a complete disaster, a joke, Batman followed the 1960's made-for-TV closer than the printed stuff.   So far, only Iron Man was the closest to capturing anything familiar - and that was just fair..."  that's what happens when political correctness takes over movies and ESPN - they start to SUCK!

I had quite a bit more respect for Bob Costas - then he gave that commentary about gun violence, from then on he's SUCKED.  Nobody except those at ESPN wanted to hear that crap - if he's on the radio, I turn him off or switch channels.

I hope I never ever.. hear Howard David give his political views, he is the best & easiest to listen to - I'll tune into Westwood One to hear him call just about anything.  Hope he never goes to that rat hole, ESPN.

Disney has always been about reshaping the minds to their vision, just consider the anti-hunting movie "Bambi."
All animals are created equal; Some just take longer to cook.   Survival is keeping an eye on those around you...
