Daughter of police officer ordered to remove ‘Blue Lives Matter’ flag … from her home

Racism Everywhere! :scared:

Quote
A Florida homeowner was ordered to remove a “Blue Lives Matter” flag she has displayed for years to honor her father and other police officers — active, retired and killed in the line of duty — because a neighbor complained it was racist.

Crap like this is why HOA's need to be significantly revamped, if not outright banned. Neighbors want to associate, that's fine. The First Amendment guarantees the government cannot interfere with our right to associate as we wish. But when those self-same associations claim the authority to tell people what they are allowed to display on or around their own homes - BS, pure and stinky. I hope they tell their HOA to stuff it where the sun don't shine.

As for the racist piece of subhuman scum who filed the complaint, may they get what they deserve.

That flag matters more than that neighbor's house.

This is when you paint a Blue Thin Line around the house. Their house already has the right color back round for it.

From what I can see the HOA's should be batching about the lawns in the neighborhood.  Not the flag.

Normally I'd side with this person, but I'm sorry, that's the American Flag, find another vessel to express your support than defacing our flag.
This is no different than the bitch that defaced the flag with the rainbow Fag hanging on military housing property.

I fully agree with you about misuse of the American flag. There are innumerable designs out there that can be used to express support for whatever people want to support.

But, as I see it, we're talking two different issues here.

HOAs should not have the authority to tell people what kinds of flags they are allowed to display on their own property.  The fact that they commonly claim such an authority means, to me, that the law needs serious revamping. I am sick and tired of the way petty tyrannies of all types have been allowed to insinuate themselves throughout our society. People are way too interested in what is going on next door, demanding their neighbors/neighborhoods do this or stop doing that. We need a new Standard, to fly beneath the Stars & Stripes - one with a central theme of MYOB.

Though I agree whole hearted, I was addressing an outrage where the individual is abusing one, to point out the flaws of another.
If she had merely made a flag that stated "Blue Live Matter, then I'd support her argument in it's entirety.

However, with that stated....
There is no doubt about it, an HOA is the epitome of a Democracy, where mob rule is the law of the day. Don't like your neighbor? No problem, bribe your neighbors to back your cause to institute abusive change.
Yes, these silly HOA need to be addressed and the first time someone is killed over it, a state will address the issue, hopefully.

HOA's are terrible and cause many problems. Before one buys a house in a neighborhood the HOA regulations should be closely reviewed. An example of stupidity is many of the gated communities around the Hilton Head area do not allow homeowners to fence their pools because of esthetics. I have a friend that lives in one of these and he wrote the HOA saying he would like to fence his pool. He advised their failure to allow the fence would place any liability on the HOA.

This is why I never have nor ever will live in anyplace that has an HOA....there is always one asshole who seems to get into a position of authority and acts like some sort of King/Queen.

I recall the case noit long ago in Richmond where these idiots lost their case trying to make somebody take don an American flag.

They should lose this case, regardless....freedom of speech is not trumped by an HOA rule.

WHEN such a lawsuit does occur,
I hope the plaintiff knows enough to sue the defendant

Probably more appropriate ...
