Well, now I know about the Electric Strawberry.  Wikipedia is wonderful!  (Most of the time.)
That logo really does look like an electric strawberry.
I was disappointed.  I was thinking it would be some kind of device you guys used on the enemy.

A Vietnam veteran told me about a guy he knew over there, who played around with the prostitutes,
and got some really nasty disease.
The government told him, "We don't want that disease coming back to America.  You can't come home."

That would probably be true if there were more than a handful of civilized people living there. The history of governments in the area will tell you there isn't.

I was just repeating what the guy told me. 

I can see why they'd keep such stories going to scare the GIs out of patronizing those "entrepreneurs."  But why would a veteran tell that to a civilian twenty years later?  (I had never given any hint that I was interested in patronizing such "entrepreneurs.")

The military mostly tells those tales to scare the teenage service members because it costs them a lot of time and money to treat young soldiers/sailors/Marines/Airmen that catch VD. Not to mention the other problems associated with "short time" bars and brothels like drunken fights,robberies,and even murders. The idea is to keep them onbase,healthy,and safe.

Wrong again. The military tells recruits about VD to keep the healthy and combat ready. Hard to fight a war, when your soldiers are all lying in their cots, sick from the clap. And no, the U.S. Army (at least again in my day) does not lie about VD to just scare recruits.

Here is a thought...just a tangent if you will....I often wonder to this day if this mysterious disease was AIDES/hiv? Supposedly it was known to WHO in the 1950's in deepest Africa....could such have made it's way to Southeast Asia via some African seaman/sailor? HMMMMM?

I am certain they know precisely the origins of that particular virus while we the majority of the populace don't. To be honest given how closely related to the virus already present in apes and chimps. It's probably from one of four vectors. 1: People in Africa having sex with chimps. 2: People in Tribal Africa who eat chimps, eating meat that wasn't thoroughly and totally cooked. 4: Hunters/handlers who were bit by an already infected chimp. 4: Attempted development of a viral infection for a bio-weapon, that got out of control.

You are more full of shit than a Christmas goose. The 25th Infantry Division is a straight leg infantry division,and have very little,if anything,to do with SF teams. Even then it would only be teams with camps in their AO,and the SF teams would be furnishing them with intel and running interference for them.

That proves you are a phony.

Anybody who doesn't realize the SF teams rely on "leg" infantry and other support units for such specialized unit insertion and extractions into enemy territory(Cambodia) during the Vietnam war is HUA (head up ass).

I worked in the same office with that guy for four years.  Here's his career:
Joined the Air Force as 2Lt in 1954.  Flew F-86s.
Switched to cargo AC.  Flew diplomats around the world.  Visited over 100 countries.
Flew cargo in Vietnam.
Was on Base Commander's staff at Wright-Patterson AFB.
Retired as LtCol in 1974, with over 6000 flight hours.

But still, he could have been telling tales about the guy with VD.
