I know the spot.  Why the hell the train was going that fast in that area.

I asked the same thing. Apparently, they tested it and decided it was safe.

What is it with libs and their need for highspeed rail?

I'll tell you right now who did this: ANTIFA

81MPH in a section of track rated at 79MPH, under normal circumstances (no rain, no ice, no snow, no wind, during daylight) is by no means reckless.

Concrete Cinder Blocks (my wild-assed guess) were responsible.

Concentrated Public Transportation is a RELIC of the past.

For one thing, there is the problem of getting people TO centralized points.

Instead, Door-To-Door individual Transport, effected by Automonous Vehicles, is clearly the most efficient, safest, most economical, and most convenient solution.

Libs love Public Transportation because it provides wasteful Government Employment, makes the peons dependent, controls movement, and provides the Government with Revenue and POWER.

I don't care what it was rated for.  I lived within 10 miles of the area for over 50 years.  No way in hell should it have been over 45 to 50 MPH.   And a (my wild-assed guess) is not fact.   Just my way of thinking.

Would 50MPH survive a few ANTIFA Cinder Blocks ?

I honestly don't know.

Is it normal for a train to go over any bridge like that one at 80 MPH?

It would take more than a few of those phony brick to derail a train, they would hit them and they'd just turn to dust.
I know, as a kid we used to everything imaginable on the track, including cinder blocks just to see what it could do to it, train always won.
I still have a nickel I stuck on the tracks in 59, flat as Hell.

In 50 years that bridge the most I saw was 25 MPH.  I can not say what the last 15 years have been as I move to the East side of the state.  Down below me AT run East in the P.M. and West in the A.M.
The most there speed has been 45 MPH even if there running late and they run ever day.

I'm seeing 30mph for that curve.

Camera angles can make the curve look *tighter* than it actually is.

Hearing the same thing on the radio, 30mph curve, ANTIFA theories are bunk, the Casey Jones was simply going too fast.
Having myself run a truck/trailer into a ditch, it's that curve that gets you off kilter, you look like a laughing stock in the ditch on a straight section.

It is rather NICE to read people jumped to assist accident victims, before 1st responders arrived.  IMO, that ought to be the norm.
QuoteDUPONT, Wash. (AP) — Daniel Konzelman was one of thousands of commuters barreling along a highway outside Seattle on Monday morning when the emergency response training he learned as an Eagle Scout kicked in.
He and a friend pulled over after an Amtrak passenger train hurtled off an overpass and crashed into vehicles on Interstate 5 below, killing at least six people and injuring dozens of others, officials said. They rushed to help, running along the tracks and over the bridge to get to the scene.
Some train cars had their roofs ripped off or were turned upside down. Others were turned sideways on the bridge. Konzelman, 24, and his friend clambered into train cars to look for victims.
"I just wanted to help people because I would want people to help me," he said.
The scene was grisly, with some people pinned under the train and others who appeared to be dead. If people could move and seemed stable, Konzelman said he helped them climb out of the train. If they looked seriously hurt, he tried to offer comfort by talking to them to calm them down.
