Title: "We are not fake news!" media snivels
Post by: quiller on April 30, 2017, 05:00:45 AM
One of the lesser stories this month was when King Donald of Over-comb announced he'd skip the completely-overrated White House Correspondents' Dinner, in favor of dang near anything else.

They in turn took pains to claim they are not fake news, and the president of the White House Correspondents Association, one Jeff Mason, was absolutely priceless in saying:

Quote"We have worked very hard to build a constructive relationship with his [President Trump's] press team. There are clear dividends from those efforts. The press is still in the White House briefing room, and we are still on Air Force One.

"In fact, press access under President Trump has been very good. With all of the tension in the relationship, that aspect is often overlooked. We have had several press conferences, repeated opportunities to see and report on the president's meetings, and with at least one notable and lamentable exception, good access to briefings with press staff and senior administration officials. Nevertheless, we cannot ignore the rhetoric that has been employed by the president about who we are and what we do. Freedom of the press is a building block of our democracy. Undermining that by seeking to delegitimize journalists is dangerous to a healthy republic.

"It is our job to report on facts and to hold leaders accountable. That is who we are. We are not fake news." said Mason, "We are not failing news organizations and we are not the enemy of the American people."

First off, since journalists pretend that the ONLY people fit to judge journalists are other journalists, their sniveling over being criticized is hilarious. If you can't stand the freaking heat, don't sit your ass at a keyboard.

Second: the reader (consumer) will be judge if you are the enemy of the American people. You report (or is that distort?), and it is WE who decide. The facts you so seldom report are, you're a pack of rabidly partisan hacks.

The leftist nature of today's media has been repeatedly proved. True conservatives are the lepers of modern journalism. I've seen several claims these last few years that well under 40% of all professional journalists now self-identify as being conservative.

How MUCH conservative? It's our call. Not theirs. As for "delegitimize"? Puhleeze. You did that one to yourselves.

Good call by Trump to skip this event. Why volunteer to be ridiculed? Also, it made the event more irrelevant than it already was.

I'd like to see The Donald attend next year's event - with the keynote speech by Ann Coulter!

I'm not sure what caused my original post to "go wide" on-screen, but sorry about it anyway.

===

Speaking of pretentious overadulated blowhards, Bob Woodward (still milking Watergate) takes up the "we are not fake news!" cudgel, with some late-night TV nobody "comic" claiming Trump cannot take a joke.

He TOOK your joke. Then he called your bluff. You're fake news. You got pantsed and deserved it.

This is turning into one of those standing jokes that keep feeding itself.

I suppose that next, Obamatards will hotly deny they allowed three such villains into their hive-think.

QuoteOnly three Republicans are represented in Politico Magazine's poll of the White House press corps asking their thoughts about covering President Trump's administration.

According to the fourth annual poll, 63 press corps members were surveyed, and only five percent of them were registered Republicans, the same percentage that listed "other." Sixteen percent were Democrats, 37 percent were independents, and 37 percent were non-registered.

Last year, none of the 72 members of the White House press corps it surveyed were Republicans, effectively showing an uptick of three members of the GOP in the poll.

No question Trump not going to the dinner was a smart move.

That being said, I know how trump won the election state by state. I don't need to hear that anymore. He needs to get to work filling all the appointments and vacant judge positions.
