In Serbia there is a tradition of firing in the air to celebrate a wedding, a birth of a child, or a cheerful holiday, although there are some differences, for example in Serbia people fire live ammo, they fire from their homes not on the streets, and they don't have the permission from the police, but the police is tolerating it because they know it's a tradition, and because they do it privately themselves, too. :wink:
