Today a U.S. soldier was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in the war against terrorism.  The ceremony took place in the WH with Obama acting as the MC.

However, when the prayer was given at the ceremony, there was no mention of God or Jesus Christ.  It did not address any deity!

I was listening and was amazed at what I heard!

Religion has become generic !   Totally devoid of meaning.

What do you think will happen to the vast fields of our Honored Dead in France and Europe when/if Muslims take over ?

So, how do they get by with calling it "prayer"?

Prayer is talking to God!  If you do not invoke His name you are blowing in the wind.  It is a phony facade that is suppose to remove God from prayer.

Who do they think they are talking to?

I don't understand.  How can someone who is dead bury someone who is dead?   Do we have Zombies that I don't realize?

Can you explain further with what you mean when you say that prayer is talking to God?   I always thought that talking meant that someone and I was having a conversation and discussing different things like the logic behind something, emotions.  It would be a back and forth conversation.

And they still try to tell us Obama is not a Moslem and a communist.

And what do YOU think prayer is?

When we pray, we talk to God and express to Him what is on our heart.  We express our praise to Him and thank Him for our salvation and His grace upon our lives.  We ask him for wisdom and direction in our lives and we ask specifically for things that are affecting our lives and families and friends.  We pray for God's hand on the entire world and political events.  We ask God to heal our land and raise up political leaders with honor and integrity and a love for Him.

It is not a one way conversation.  God speaks back to us in two specific ways.  He answers our prayers and/or changes our heart to conform to His will in our lives.  No prayer goes unanswered.  However we may not immediately see the answer.  But if we are wise we will ask Him for HIS will to be done in our lives because that is always the best possible solution to our concerns.

God also sometimes lays upon our hearts specific things that may not be typical for our character traits.  He can inspire us to see someone with new eyes and discernment and reach out to them in unusual ways.  When that happens we know it is from God because it is SO uncharacteristic for us.

He sometimes speaks to our hearts and inspires us to give money or physical assistance to someone that may be in need.  Apart from God we may not realize there is even a need.  But God knows and speaks to His people who are willing to be used by Him to accomplish His will.  According to the Bible that is how Christians lay up treasures in heaven.... by obeying the Spirit when it speaks to our hearts.

If you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ you will not know what this is like.  Only believers know His voice.  Scriptures say, "My sheep hear my voice."  Yes, we certainly do.

So, back to our original issue on prayer..  we always address God when we pray.  Sometimes we refer to Him as God, or we may call Him Father.  And because Jesus Christ is the mediator of our prayers we usually end our prayers with an acknowledgement of Jesus' priestly role.  Sometimes we just say "in the name of Jesus I pray."

Without acknowledging God or Jesus, we are not talking to them.  They MUST receive our recognition of their authority in our lives and in all of creation.

I hope this answers your question.

You know what Kroz, it actually does answer my question.   I never thought of it like that.   Very in-depth.   Thanks, it helps a lot and I do appreciate it.

We frequently talk about the fact that when there is a void of leadership in the world it will be filled with something/someone less desirable.... as ISIS and Putin have taken advantage of Obama's abdication from leadership.

Well, the same can be said for the absence of Christianity in the West.  As westerners have walked away from the Christian faith, the religious void is being filled with islam.  I just heard a report that basically said that the French should not be baffled by the surge in French born kids converting to islam.  There is a religious vacuum in Europe.

Every human is born with a spiritual component in their DNA.  God put it there!  We were created to worship something or someone.  People try to fill it with all kinds of things.  But nothing really fills the void except the God of creation.  That is not the god of Mohammed or Buddha or Confucius or any other religion apart from the Bible.

As we have forced the living God out of our culture it is being filled with all kinds of empty spiritualism including islam.

Are you saying God did not do a very good job with our DNA.  It's not like Adam & Eve kids had a of other family to choose from at that time.

I believe you missed my point, walks.

God did a perfect job with our DNA.  It originally contained no mutations or anomalies.

However, he created in each of us a God shaped vacuum that He intended us to fill with a spiritual relationship with Him.  After all, that is why we were created in the first place.... to glorify God.  God wants a relationship with His crown jewel of creation... man.

Unfortunately mankind has tried almost from the beginning of time to fill that void with something apart from God.  That was the heart of the problem at the Tower of Babel.  They were rebelling against God.  Therefore He confused their languages and disbursed them into different parts of the earth.  That is not an allegory.  It actually happened.

I see a direct parallel between the actions of the people at Babel and the current attempt to create a one-world government and world without borders.  To do this they must neutralize Christianity and a belief in the Bible.

The people of Babel were building upward.  We are building outward.  Same general philosophical reason.  We want to usurp God's authority in this world.

How do I put this without seeming argumentative? All I'm trying to do is to follow Jesus's admonishment of "Seeing to it that no one misleads me" because there are a lot of false prophets, we're all sinners before the lord and in addition to that  my pragmatic and communication disorder.   It's why I ask questions; it is to seek truth and clarity and free myself of error.  Matthew 24:4

Now,  God is perfect meaning complete.   Since God is complete meaning he needs nothing else why would he desire anything at all like being given glory?

Thanks for the question, cube.  It is an honest and good question.

First I will quote a verse that tells us our purpose.

Isaiah 43:7
"Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made."

Now, the short answer to your question is .... we do not know for sure.  But He has given us some clues.

Jeremiah 9: 23-24 Says He delights in us.

But Romans 9: 22-24 is more specific.

"What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles."

God desires for us to know Him, to know His character, and to understand Him. We come to know Him as He reveals His personal attributes, including His love, mercy, grace, justice, and wrath.

We're commanded in 1 Corinthians 10:31:

"Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

God does not need us.  It is we who need Him.  He created us with that God shaped vacuum inside.  He wanted us to long for a relationship with Him.

Why does man like having a dog?  Do we "need" a dog to be complete?  What makes the dog so dedicated to his owner?  Isn't it strange how dogs love their owners so much that they will give their own lives to protect them?  Why did God create them like this?  Maybe He wanted us to have a tiny understanding of the loving relationship He desires to have with us.

I hope this helps answer your question.
