Don't know who wrote it but it pretty much sums up the world today...

Welcome to the world today.....
Where sex is free and love is expensive.
Where losing a phone is more painful than losing your virginity.
Where modernization means nudity, profanity, and if you don't drink/smoke dope you're out of fashion/style.
Where boys stay boys and never want to become men, and girls become men to rule over them.
Where if you don't fool your partner it's because you're not clever enough.
Where the bathrooms have become photography studios.
Where pizza delivery is faster than the emergency response.
Where people fear the thieves and the terrorists more than God.
Where Worshipping God is difficult.
Where temples turn into dating pools.
Where lies become realities.
Where the ladies fear pregnancy more than h.i.v.,
and babies are murdered so the ladies can escape.
Where people become toxic when they speak the truth or you're resisting to turn from what is actually toxic.
Where perspectives and clothes decide the value of a person.
Where money is more important than family and God.
Where children are ready to leave their families for their love of the moment, rebellion and spite.
Where the marriage covenant is no longer sacred or taken seriously.
Where it's easier to play house than to build a home.
Where jumping from partner to partner for sex or attention is easier than waiting for the right partner for life.
Where love is a game.
Where evil no longer exists.
Whoever plays with the mind always gets happiness and who plays with the heart always hurts.
Modernity, love and liquid education...

The new generation of humanity.

II Timothy 3: 1-4
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

Matthew 24:12-13
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.

Interesting. "The World Today" certainly ties in well with Timothy's prediction. And the truth of both can't be denied; the world is a scary place when you really think about it. I'm just not so sure that it's much worse than it ever was, as all these human faults and failings have been recorded and bemoaned since Adam and Eve were forced to leave the Garden. I'm just wondering if things seem worse because we're more aware of them, what with all our exposure to the evildoings in the world through mass media, a relative newcomer. Of course, that could be just wishful thinking on my part.

(Good to see you, ST. It's been a long time! )

You are right - it is the media, movies, television, news etc. that constantly throws it at us and tells us this behavior is okay.  I really do pray every day for my children and grandchild for protection in this crazy world.

Good to see you too LadyBug.

Paul Harvey was a broadcaster who rendered daily news on the radio from the 1950s through the 1990s, and inspired generations of Americans with true stories of goodness and heroism with his daily, "The Rest of the Story." He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 for his contributions to the nation. At his peak, his broadcasts reached as many as 24 million listeners and readers, as 1,600 radio stations and 300 newspapers carried his program and columns across the nation.

One broadcast, which he titled, "If I Were the Devil," ran originally in 1964, but he updated it several times over the years, and the version detailed below aired in 1996. In Paul Harvey's own words, here is what he said he would do, if he "were the devil."

"If I were the prince of darkness, I would want to engulf the whole world in darkness. I'd have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — thee. So, I would set about however necessary to take over the United States.

"I'd subvert the churches first, and I would begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: 'Do as you please.'

"To the young, I would whisper that the Bible is a myth. I would convince the children that man created God instead of the other way around. I'd confide that what's bad is good and what's good is square. And the old, I would teach to pray after me, 'Our Father, which art in Washington ...'

"Then, I'd get organized, I'd educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I'd peddle narcotics to whom I could. I'd sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I'd tranquilize the rest with pills.

"If I were the devil, I'd soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves and nations at war with themselves until each, in its turn, was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings, I'd have mesmerizing media fanning the flames.

"If I were the devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellect but neglect to discipline emotions. I'd tell teachers to let those students run wild. And before you knew it, you'd have drug-sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door. With a decade, I'd have prisons overflowing and judges promoting pornography. Soon, I would evict God from the courthouse and the schoolhouse and then from the houses of Congress. In his own churches, I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I'd lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls and church money.

"If I were the devil, I'd take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. What'll you bet I couldn't get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich?

"I'd convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun and that what you see on television is the way to be. And thus, I could undress you in public and lure you into bed with diseases for which there are no cures.

"In other words, if I were the devil, I'd just keep right on doing what he's doing."

Everything Harvey saw as nascent trends back in the 60's has come to fruition.

10 Reasons to Go to Church (Even When You Don't Feel Like It)

1. To Hear the Preaching of the Word
If the word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than a sword (Hebrews 4:12), then hearing the preaching of Scripture is vital to your spiritual well-being.

2. To Participate in Corporate Worship
Worshiping God alone is wonderful, but nothing can replace the beauty of coming together corporately to worship Him with others who also have His Spirit in them through the redeeming work of salvation.

3. Because Iron Sharpens Iron
That is what Proverbs 27:17 tells us. Meeting regularly with other believers is a source of encouragement and strength.

4. To Exercise Your Gift
From preaching to encouraging, hospitality to administration, God equips His children with gifts to serve Christ. (See 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12:6). When a church body is healthy, its members realize they are part of the congregation not only to receive but also to be a blessing.

5. To Encourage Your Pastor
The pastor's heart of the Apostle Paul comes through when he says, "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now... And it is right for me to feel this way about you all for I hold you in my heart" (see Philippians 1:3-7).

6. To Find Godly Mentors
In the church you'll discover many people who have walked the road ahead of you. Their wisdom, insights, and even vulnerability to teach you from their mistakes is one way God provides to help you grow. Titus chapter 2 is a great place to learn how much God values mentorship. It is His plan for the older men and women to come alongside of the younger to train them in godliness, and guide them toward building a life of no regrets.

7. To Teach Your Kids to Love the Church
If you want to teach your kids to love God, they need to see that you love God. And if you want them to learn to love God's people, they have to observe you loving God's people. Luke 6:40 says the student will become like his teacher. Notice Jesus didn't say the student will become as the teacher teaches him to be, rather he will be like his teacher. In her new book Caught Not Taught author Julie Rupp says, "Our children will learn more about faith from watching us live out our own faith journey... than from us telling them about God."

8. To be a Light to Your Community
Jesus said the world will know we are His disciples by our love for one another, so of course Satan wants to destroy any sense of love and community in the body of Christ. When you commit to loving God and loving others, the light shining from your Christ-honoring love is what the Spirit can use to draw others to know Jesus.

9. To Bear Each Other's Burdens
Galatians 6:2 teaches us to bear each other's burdens to fulfill the law of Christ. Life can be hard, right? In a moment everything can change. Just when things are going great, a phone call, diagnosis, or a host of other mishaps can leave you feeling afraid and alone. But to those who are a part of a church family never feel alone. When life is going great, they have the affirmation of others. And when life throws a curve, they're blessed by loving concern, support, and prayer.

10. Because God Says To
Hebrews 10:25 says, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." I don't think the writer of Hebrews could make any more clear God's desire to have you regularly assemble together with His people. Realize that God wanting you to regularly attend church is for your good. He wants you, and His people, to exhort one another especially as the days grow darker and the time of Christ's return approaches.
