Title: Petrus Romanus: The Last Pope?
Post by: Turks on February 14, 2013, 04:36:30 AM
"A sign of the End Times? In the Prophecy of the Last Pope, the name of the Last Pope is said to be "Peter." Whether that is his name — or the name he chooses as Pope — is not clear, at least to me.

However, there are a number of candidates amongst the most likely nominees for the next pope whose name happens to be Peter. At least ONE is a Roman.

Coincidence? Beats me!

Where is all this coming from, anyway?

It's an old prophecy supposedly made by Saint Malachy in 1139. The prophecy is the result of a vision Malachy supposedly had. As a result, Malachy created a list of 112 short Latin phrases, which are said to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few anti-popes), beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with current pope Benedict XVI's successor, a pope described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome. (Emphasis mine.)

Some say the prophecy was promptly lost in the archives of the Church and not discovered until 1590.

Those Latin phrases Malachy is said to have written describes something about each of the popes and/or some identifying event about their reign. The phrase that has everyone sitting up and taking notice is the prediction encapsulated in the phrase regarding Peter the Roman's reign is this: "In the extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit [i.e., as bishop]. Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations: and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible judge will judge his people. The End." (SOURCE)

Is this the beginning of the "Alta Vendetta?"

There is a prophecy in that church that the "antichrist" (the Returning Yeshua) will persecute that church and FORCE the observance of "Jewish" Holy Days rather than the christianized pagan holidays she follows.

Quote

Cardinal John Henry Newman (19th century) Hence, considering that Antichrist would pretend to be the Messiah, it was of old the received notion that he was to be of Jewish race and to observe the Jewish rites (Newman, Cardinal John Henry. Lecture 2. The Religion of Antichrist. Copyright © 2004 by The National Institute for Newman Studies).

    E. Culligan (1966) The Antichrist will be a Jew by race and religion (Culligan E. The Last World War and the End of Time. The book was blessed by Pope Paul VI, 1966. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), p. 101).

Francisco Suarez (died 1617). Suarez (following Saint Jerome, Saint Ambrose, Sulpitius Severus, et al.) says that "Antichrist shall be born of Jewish extraction, and will profess the Jewish religion (Connor p.81).

St. Hildegard (12th century). "And in this way the son of perdition will practice his deceitful arts on the elements and show in them the beauty and sweetness and delight desired by those he deceives...He will show them his treasures and riches, and allow them to feast as they will, confirming his teachings by deceitful signs so they think they need not restrain or chaste their bodies in any way. He will command them to observe circumcision and the Jewish laws and customs" (Hildegard of Bingen. Scivias. Paulist Press, Mahwah (NJ), p. 504).

Frederick William Faber (died 1863)...Antichrist...Certainly a Jew...begins by affecting respect for the law of Moses...Jerusalem will be the metropolis (Connor p.87).

While it is remotely possible that Antichrist will be a Jew, it is completely clear that Jesus was. Notice the following:

Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus answered...(John 4:9-10).

Are you surprised to know that the "Christian" world will GO TO WAR against the retuning Messiah and His saints and angels?  And what will they do?

3 Then the LORD will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south...
16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain. 18 If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles (Zechariah 14:3-4,16-19).

QuoteDionysus of Luxembourg (died 1682) Antichrist will be an iconoclast. Most in the world will adore him. He will teach that the Christian (Catholic) religion is false (Connor, p.85). .

Whose side will YOU be on?  Your beloved ORGANIZATION of men, or His?

My neighbor was talking about this the other night. The prophesy that that the next Pope will be the last Pope.

There's no telling if it means anything. People have been convinced that the end was upon us, for thousands of years.

I'll stick with this, and save the conspiracy stuff for politics.

Jesus told His disciples, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. ... You do not know when that time will come" (Mark 13:32-33).

Yes, my feelings exactly.
