This man gave a blistering speech on Capitol Hill two weeks ago and absolutely nailed it!

In less than ten minutes he laid the foundational premise of this Nation being created for the glory of God and then systematically indicts liberals, Obama and the SCOTUS for leading us into evil.

It is well worth the time to listen.....

Yesterday, May 24th, 2015, marked the passing of the Day of Pentecost, the 50th and final day of the annual Jewish High Holy Days, which begin on Passover and close on The Pentecost.
Passover, for the Jews, celebrates independence from slavery and remembers the miracle of The Passover that occurred during that period of slavery. The Pentecost features blessings on the Harvest, concerns for the families and fellow Israelites, and closing ceremonies.

Events that occurred during one particular year have special meaning for followers of Christ. That was the year Jesus returned to Jerusalem for the purpose of celebrating the High Holy Days with  His people, the year of His execution.

It was on the Day of Pentecost that the disciples were gathered and the miracles of The Pentecost took place. Prior to the gift of the Holy Spirit's descending on Christ's followers, the disciples, believers, and converts acted as individuals, preaching, testifying, exhorting, repenting, baptizing and evangelizing.  After that event, Christ's faithful followers became one in the Holy Spirit and received the promise that spirit would always be with them.

This brief narrative suggests the depth of the traditions shared by Jews and Christians in what is known as The Judeao-Christian tradition. It is very important to us and it is to be trivialized, mocked, subverted, or denigrated at the risk of consequences.

Excellent post, red_dirt.

Thanks for the timely reminder.  It helps us keep everything in a proper perspective.....

Thank you.

I presented that talk yesterday as part of what we do here, which is to take turns blessing the Sacrament.  The brief introductory concerned the meaning of the Miracles of the Pentecost -- the descent of the Holy Spirit in a powerful wind,  each understanding in his or her own language, and 3,000 baptized.

Fifty days from Passover, fifty days from Easter...well, close enough, but not exactly.

The Last Supper,  then, what, "towards the end of the week," or  four or five days into the holidays, after Jesus had entered the city? So, Pentecost, fifty days after Passover, assuming Passover Day marks the start of the season, then must come a few less days from Easter, maybe ten or less than ten.

That's the topic of the talk.  That, and how closely linked our traditions really are. Practicing Christians embrace it. Practicing Moslems reject, even wish to destroy it. Subversives, communists, and assorted Democrats wish to dismiss it, dismiss it as "right wing Christianity."
Made a good talk topic. When we are not too straight on any one thing, nothing like explaining it to others.

I think this discussion should be on the "Religion" thread.... but I will make one more post here.

Pentecost is always 50 days after Passover but obviously happens on non-repeating days of the week.  Both holidays can be on any day of the week..... not the sabbath.  Rarely do they happen on the sabbath.

There was an interesting paradox that happened this Passover that rarely happens.... not the blood moon.   This year Passover was on April 3rd on the gregorian calendar.  That is exactly the same date of the actual crucifixion of Christ in 33 A.D.  That exact same date on the gregorian calendar is an extremely rare phenomenon.

BTW, the gregorian calendar appears to be off by four years. (This is common knowledge among historians.)  Therefore, Christ was most likely born in 4 B.C. and would have been 37 years old at the time of his crucifixion in 33 A.D.

I got off the topic, though not intentionally, after watching the Rabbi's talk, one of the best I have heard anywhere. I was hoping to affirm the meaning and purpose of the Judeo Christian, and point out to anyone in earshot that this tradition runs deep, has deep meaning, and ought to be understood. I see that Rabbi Jonathan Cahn has several youtube videos.

We don't necessarily have to agree with every foreign policy decision of Israel. In the case of this current administration, though, there is reason to suspect its handling of relations with Israel may be influenced  by attitudes that have no place in this country, much less in its government or official bodies.
