Atheists unveil monument near Ten Commandments

How does one build a monument to nothing?
This is really sad, it was only meant to insult believers, nothing less.
And people wonder why we view Atheists with contempt, it has nothing to do with your lack of belief, but your need to interfere with those that do.
Why is it so important to beat people with faith?

A group of atheists unveiled a monument to their nonbelief in God on Saturday to sit alongside a granite slab that lists the Ten Commandments in front of the Bradford County courthouse.

As a small group of protesters blasted Christian country music and waved "Honk for Jesus" signs, the atheists celebrated what they believe is the first atheist monument allowed on government property in the United States.

"When you look at this monument, the first thing you will notice is that it has a function. Atheists are about the real and the physical, so we selected to place this monument in the form of a bench," said David Silverman, president of American Atheists.

It also serves another function — a counter to the religious monument that the New Jersey-based group wanted removed. It's a case of if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I thought of the same thing before I saw JustKari's post.

Maybe that's where they rest their brains when they are tired.

I think you'd be a fool NOT to believe in evolution. Your appendix is all the proof you should need.

That being said, to attribute the rise of humanity to mere evolution is insane. To deny that a High Power was involved is insane. To claim that there was no "intelligent design" is insane. To do these things is to deny the very fact that you can do these things. It's upside-down and inside-out.

Atheists (and agnostics, and lots of other folks) would seem to be OK with this: "Well, you know, I used to be scum floating on a pond, but then I got wise and grew legs and arms and a brain and bought a house and a car and got high-speed internet and a kick-ass cell phone."

Excuse me. Evolution happens. (Looking beyond your appendix, just a little research on average human height, for example, will prove it.) But claiming that evolution is 100% responsible for the rise of humanity is just so much Leftist bullshit.

There is no reason whatsoever that the two theories can't coexist. But neither theory has all the answers.

I used to have all the answers, but I misplaced them.  :tounge:
