Ring a bell....

Godlessness In The Last Days

1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress.
2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good,
4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people.
6For among them are those who make their way into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and swayed by various impulses,
7who will listen to anybody and can never arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
8As Jan'nes and Jam'bres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith;
9but they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.

My thought on the first verse is that the "times of stress" are often the consequence of corrupt men coming to power. In our own country, whether on a local, state or national level, we see how the average citizen suffers the consequences of corrupt leadership beholden to other self interest. It affects the poorer financially on many levels - employment, taxes, fees etc., so as to cover the 'wants/costs' of corrupt partnerships in politics - thereby causing great stress within the family unit.

Now these very same 'leaders' are those who'll gladly take a photo-op - entering itheir community church, talking with religious notables, thereby having "a form of religion but denying the power of it."  Theirs is religion is one of show, rather than one of Faith.
