Here's an astounding light show to go with Pink Floyd's classic rock tune "Comfortably Numb," from The Wall....

Pink Floyd - Best Guitar Solo Of All Time

...and if you're more a non-rock fan, here's a sensational version of "Guitar Boogie," from Tommy Emmanuel.....  (Crummy video, but audio is OK.)

Tommy Emmanuel - Guitar Boogie

I read somewhere that Les Paul AND Chet Atkins AND Eric Clapton have said that Tommy Emmanuel is the best there is. Now THAT is some heavyweight testimony! GREAT music!

Sometimes it's not just the guitar. Sometimes magic happens from NOT having your regular band, as when the Hall and Oates Band hit the stage at Live Aid in 1985, backing up Mick Jagger and Tina Turner in this smokin' hot version of "It's Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It)." (Visual surprise at 5:50.)

LIVE AID Mick Jagger & Tina Turner

And from 1968, here's "Room to Move," John Mayall, when a harmonica is more than just a mouth organ....

Jagger is a talent that is overblown, overpromoted, overglamorized, vastly exaggerated, much smaller than his own legend. I'm a child of the 60's and couldn't stand him then. Still can't. I've always had this affinity for being able to understand the lyrics of lyric songs, without having to look them up. You know, just by listening. With Jagger, you always have to look 'em up.

Now Tina, sweet Aunt Tina, THERE's a nice pair of legs! Yeh! She's yummy, but I think she's pretty much a single dimension. She hit a nice peak late in her career, and good for her.

The two together are just a weird combination, I think. The music ain't that good, the performances ain't that good... It ain't that good, IMHO.

Mayall is Mayall. Unchangeable. Forever. Either you like him or you don't. He's a hell of mouth-organ maestro.

Mouth percussion by Johnny Almond greatly helped this Mayall track. It's rare for not having a drum in the ensemble.
