You didn't ask for them, but you got'em anyways: My concert reviews! :)

In mid-December, we went to see Neil Sedaka at the 1,200-seat Hawaii Theatre. I kinda thought it was going to be a Christmas show, but he only sang a couple of Christmas songs. He did sing a bunch of his biggest hits, like "Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen," "Calendar Girl," "Breaking Up is Hard to Do," "Love Will Keep Us Together" and my favorite: "Laughter in the Rain." We had great seats, and he sang really well, but the bummer was that it was just him and his piano. So while it was a very intimate concert (full of his stories about his career and his hit songs), it got kinda monotonous after a while. I wish there were a band to back up his piano and vocals. Out of a possible five stars, I'd give this concert ***.

More recently, in early January, we saw Elton John at the Blaisdell Arena. It was the second time that we saw Elton John in concert, and for some reason, this one was so much better! Great lighting effects, and an outstanding band backed him up! And Sir Elton pretty much played every hit he had. He opened with "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting," and then kept going with hits like "Rocket Man," "Daniel," "The Bitch is Back," "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word," "Candle in the Wind," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," "Philadelphia Freedom," "Sad Songs," "I'm Still Standing," "Crocodile Rock," "Benny & the Jets" and "Your Song." What an awesome show! We had floor seats, about 20 rows from the stage. I think next to the Eagles concert we went to in 2006, this might have been the BEST concert I ever attended! *****!

And next month, we're going to see Neil Diamond! And in April, we're gonna see Angelah Johnson!
